New voiceovers for Allison Smith: submit today
I'm sending in a set of voiceover requests to Allison Smith this afternoon. I haven't kept up with the -users list to know if there is someone keeping track of this stuff any more... We only have a few phrases for her to record, and if anyone has applications which require Allison's voice for the "asterisk-soun...

oggfile, skeleton and vorbis tools
...ve a few such files for testing, is two audio streams designed to play concurrently. For example a dj type scenario... intentionally playing two files over the top of each other. An even more useful case is for example an online stream, where the music is in one stream, and the dj/announcer can voiceover in the other stream... i've got a few test files like this also. Vorbis+Vorbis and Speex+Vorbis examples. I think somewhere i've got a file that plays four songs simultaneously, even though this file is not particularly useful, it was just a good test to see how my directshow filters...

Fwd: [whatwg] Cue points in media elements
...d on VP3) and Ogg Vorbis as a baseline would be completely fine with us, and much preferable to the patent issues and licensing fees we'd need to deal with if we used MPEG4. For the sort of content that we produce, cue points are incredibly important. Most of our content consists of a video or voiceover playing while bullet points appear, animations play, and graphics are revealed, all in sync with the video. We have a very simple system for doing cue points, that is extremely easy for the content authors to write and is robust for paused media, media that is skipped to the end, etc. We simply h...

jspeex distortion playback issue
Hi all, I'm having a playback issue I can't eliminate. I'm encoding 16khz mono WAV files (voiceover recordings) to speex using a quality setting of 4. In any standalone speex player e.g. winamp or using speex frontend etc. the files play fine, but in a jspeex environment there's a subtle high pitched beeping type distortion, mostly on the transients. The sound is similar to digital sync...

Music on Hold Quality
Does anyone know how to maximize music on hold quality on calls inbound from PSTN? I know that it is common to have choppy and static sounding music on hold when connecting via PSTN but how can that be minimized? I assume that the bitrates, type of music, etc can minimize the effects. Does anyone have any experience in this area? Do you know where I should look for more information?
