CTDB_Recovery_Lock
Hello list,
I compiled the CTDB version from samba.org::ftp/unpacked/ctdb with the parameter: " --prefix= "
This I did on CentOS 5.5
Then I copy and edit ctdb.sysconfig from /usr/src/ctdb/config to /etc/sysconfig/ctdb
I set CTDB_RECOVERY_LOCK="/share/ctdb_lock/lock_file" on all three nodes.
Every node can read and write on /share.
When I try to start ctdb it start successful

Problems when computing the 1rst derivative of mixtures of densities
Hi everybody,
I am currently working on mixtures of two densities ( f(xi,teta)=
(1-teta)*f1(xi) + teta*f2(xi) ),
particularly on the behavior of the variance for teta=0 (so sample only
comes from the first distribution).
To determine the maximum likelihood estimator I use the Newton-Rapdon
Iteration. But when
computing the first derivative I get a none linear function (with several
asymptotes)

Scaffolding for pre-existing database table in 2.0.1
Hi,
first of all I will apologize in advance for my presumably noobish
question, but I''m only starting to learn Rails and am a little
confused with all the changes in 2.0.1. There are as good as no
tutorials out yet and the 2 or 3 screencasts I''ve seen deal with the
creation of both the app and the database.
Now my problem is that I already have a database with a fair amount of

Delay for ONBATT event
Hi,
my UPS (APC SMC1000C) goes to ONBATT every day for a few seconds. This
event is emitted because of the short daily UPS self-test, which
cannot be disabled.
Depending on the poll interval upsmon/NUT sometimes picks this event
up and a power failure is logged, even if this is not a real power
outage. I would like to prevent that.
Now I was wondering if there is a way to delay the ONBATT event

2 Samba 4.1 DCs: demote fails with Python traceback
Hi,
I have set up two AD DCs (both running Samba 4.1). This is my setup:
dc1.mydomain.lan: The first DC (used for domain provision)
dc2.mydomain.lan: Promoted to AD DC after domain setup
I promoted dc2 using this command:
samba-tool domain join mydomain.lan DC -Uadministrator --realm=mydomain.lan
While the promotion worked without any issues I now want to demote dc2
again. This is what I did:

[Samba 4] Issues with uidNumber and gidNumber in AD for Linux clients
Hi,
I am still experimenting with Samba 4 and I'd like to serve both
Windows and Linux clients with Samba (standalone AD server). The
Windows-side is already working well. For serving Linux-clients I need
to store the users' uidNumber and gidNumber in the Active Directory.
This is how I do that:
1. Create a user "test" with samba-tool
2. Get the internal UID which was assigned

RFC2307: Recommendations for mapping Administrator account
Hi,
thank you for your input guys.

I think that would actually be more pain in the long run, as this
pretty much rules out using Samba/AD with sssd/nss-ldap.

winbind: How to map Administrator to "root" on AD member server
Hi,
I am running a pure Samba 4.1+ AD environment (on the server side). There
is one AD DC running Samba 4.1 and two member servers (running Samba 4.1 as
well).
I have provisioned the domain with support for the rfc2307 AD schema. On
the DC the UIDs are assigned automatically to AD users by Samba, which is
great. I am also storing the assigned UIDs in the Active Directory as
uidNumber (gidNumber

Fwd: Samba AD DC not working properly within Docker [NT_STATUS_INTERNAL_ERROR]
Hi,
I am isolating many server services through Docker. I am using the
macvlan driver for this with a dedicated Docker server VLAN. I have
provisioned a new Samba AD domain in a docker container, the required
services are running but SMB clients cannot connect (RPC error).
First of all, these are the Samba versions I have tried:
- Samba 4.5.12 with Debian stable
- Samba 4.7.4 with Debian

RFC2307: Recommendations for mapping Administrator account
Hi,
I provisioned a new domain with "--use-rfc2307" as I want to use the
"ad" idmap backend on my domain members.
I am thinking of mapping the "Administrator" account to UID 10000
(this is where my UID range for the domain will be starting), as the
account must be known to the domain members (otherwise I got funny
behavior). It seems a lot of people are mapping that
