conformance test suites (e.g vobis, theora)
hi,
does anzone know of a conformance testsuite e.g. for vorbis and theora
bitstreams. This would be nice to have when e.g. testing a dsp based
reimplementation.
Also a testsuite that does robustness testing on the ogg container format would
be nice. If none of these exist, wound't that be a good project for e.g. next GSoC?

How to loop a Vobis sound ?
The sound file is played correctly for the first time, then when rewind to the initial position.
then copy PCM to buffer, the OpenAL report an error.
It seems like the OpenAL doesn't recognize the PCM data.
The OpenAL error number :
AL_INVALID_VALUE 0xA003
void Buffer::PCMData (ALuint id, ALenum eFormat, ALvoid *data, ALsizei size, ALsizei freq)

#include scheme in vorbis project
...ject without
defining extra include paths. This is especially important in large
projects. Right now its pretty easy for me to just modify the code in ogg
vorbis to work this way, but it seems unnecessary. Is there a really good
reason that you have it the way it is right now?
Also if the test of vobis codec works out ok here I may be able to
contribute with optimizations in the form of SSE code and so on, has this
already been done / is in the process of being done. Is this something that
you are interested in?

stream ogg - double speed ??
Just got ogg streaming working but I created an ogg file from a wav that
appears to play ok when I do play the file from my disk with XMMS but when I
stream
it, it plays at double speed. I can stream test ogg files from the vobis site
ok so don't know why this file can be played ok from disk but not streamed ok.
The file is mono. Any ideas ???

Richard

If you just want to make static files available for playing individually,
you should use a web server such as apache instead.

...rmat files?
For instance I use icecast to stream because of the quality and its
dependability in maintaining a connection druing playing.
Like with mp3 files and icecast I can have many many files available as
links that open nicely into a player like WinAmp or real or xmms.
If Apache streams ogg/vobis I'll certianly use it but I didn't think it
had that capability. When I click on an ogg/vorbis file link in an
Apache web directory the damn thing just tries to download. For
downloads I always use Apache but maybe they have come out with a
streaming ogg/vorbis Apache server.

speech in vorbis
I was wondering how vorbis fares as a speech codec? I
mean can it give similar or better quality as
GSM/Toast at the same kind of bitrates/filesize?
I'm not worried about streaming but I'd love to be
able to create really small voice files.
Can anyone give me an idea of filesize for recording
time for pure speech based use?

using vcut on split ogg files
hi,
I am recording a continuous 24/7 broadcast using ecasound, oggenc and
cronolog.
because the broadcast is continuous and to not lose any data, I split up
the recorded stream into a file for every 30 minutes using cronolog
(http://www.cronolog.org).
o the chain looks like the following:
ecasound | oggenc | cronolog
the problem is the following, because the oggfiles are split, they lack

patent issues with Vorbis
Hi,
We are in the business of developing/productizing Multimedia codecs for embedded systems. Recently, Vorbis has gained good popularity. We are also developing it.
But we face few problems related to patents. Vorbis claims to be patent free. Is there any particular search made for possible patent infringements and corresponding report published? We need to convince our customers sometime
