Direct groups of users to pairs of backend mailstores?
Hi All, We are using Dovecot in a Director setup with two director proxies, six backend mailstores, mailbox storage in NFS, and user accounts stored in LDAP.?? Currently we have five NFS filesystems on EMC VNX storage which are all mounted on each of the six backend mailstores.?? At the moment all users could be directed to any of the six mailstores.? We have a group of users with very large mailboxes we want to put on separate cheaper Backblaze NFS storage.? Because this will be less reliable than our V...

Semantics of "virsh migrate --copy-storage-all" vs. --copy-storage-inc
...hain [base] <- [sn1] <- [sn2] Background: I am trying to understand what really happens, so I can use the tools for a reasonable fast failover between two servers with local storage. more Background: I have VMs and bare metal servers which do use expensive shared storages like NetApp, EMC² VNX, HP and others, but the shared storage boxes all require customer visible maintenance downtimes every 12 to 20 month. And these downtimes take a long lead time and are between 01:00 and 05:00. Mit freundlichen Gruessen Andreas Buschmann -- Andreas Buschmann [Senior Systems Engineer]...

Dovecot mailstore performance tuning

We have about 800 max users on each mailstore at peak times and performance appears to starting to degrade at these times.? The mailstores are pretty recent hardware with 64GB of RAM and 24 cores.?? The NFS storage is EMC VNX and we are doing about 250 I/O per sec upto max of 500 on each filesystem.?? I need to squeeze more performance out of these servers whether that is in the NFS client, Dovecot or Linux OS/kernel areas.?? We use LDAP for auth and I am doing some tuning in that area.?? The NFS filesystems are mounted...

IP accounting counters on iptables
...dling around to find the "ideal" ip accounter, and I have yet to find any that would use the existing chains (in this case, defined by shorewall), and store data in an SQL database for infinite data gathering. So far, I think I found one that worked on that reads the output of iptables -vnx -L -t filter calles IAM (IP Accounting Monster), howerver, it''s not exactly right. So, based with that priciple in mind, resetting the counters at intervals of 1 or 2 hours, I''m thinking of writing a perl data collection script that would parse the output of iptables and store d...

Disk images
Hello! We are planning to migrate our iSCSI installation (LUN based) to one NFS installation (based in images). iSCSI offers great performance, but we have many dom0s and domUs and the management is difficult (many LUNS, many multipath messages, ...). (We are using Debian Wheezy with Xen 4.1.2) I have some questions: -What formats of disk images support Xen? I have not found support for

Dsyncing mail in director setup

suggestions for large filesystem server setup (n * 100 TB)
Hi, over time the requirements and possibilities regarding filesystems changed for our users. currently I'm faced with the question: What might be a good way to provide one big filesystem for a few users which could also be enlarged; backuping the data is not the question. Big in that context is up to couple of 100 TB may be. O.K. I could install one hardware raid with e.g. N big drives
