connecting vmware through tinc on host system (linux)
...8-5-686) with tinc 1.0.5 for connecting to my office LAN. On the same box there's a vmware virtual machine running (Windows 2k). Now i'd like to connect this virtual machine through the VPN, too. All my attempts did fail... The virtual machine runs with a "host only" network (vmnet1). On the linux side i tried to configure NAT for translating the vmnet1 addresses to the VPN addresses. For some reason iptables does not translate the address at all :( My configuration on the linux box: ath0: 192.168.178.22/24 = connection to ISP subvpn: 192.168.6.1/16 = VPN (tinc) vmn...

Working configuration for 5.1 and VMware 3 or 2?
...lable' :-( Anyway - 5_1 on Dell Latitude C640. the vmware3 port installs but the paths are a little odd - isoimages, licences are looked for in /usr/lib/vmware rather than /usr/local/lib.... I installed (w2k) a guest and it is fine but I cannot get networking host-only or bridge modes as the vmnet1 interface IP isn't found which indicates it hasn't found the config file in /usr/local/ - I tried sym-linking it to /etc/vmware/config but still no good. Anyone got it working? I suspect vmware2 might work - next plan.... Tantalisingly close to working... but of course after going in c...

Desiring to set up Windows Vista and Linux Fedora Core 4 Samba; brand new subscriber

But, the router is also a network switch for all the things attached to it.) My smb.conf file has had "interfaces = eth0 vmnet1 vmnet8", and that has been what it has used. (vmnet1 and 8 are VMWare-specific network ports). I recently changed the IP address of the Windows Vista computer to a static IP address. (It had been using a D-Link router specified DHCP address.) I also removed "git submodule update --init" from efi/build-gnu-efi.sh so I could rebuild syslinux locally using: # make spotless # make bios # make efi64 What I've found so far: /* TCPdump/Wireshark analysis - problem 1 */ Running tcpdump from the host on /dev/vmnet1 I found the following. The file "syslinux.efi" loads from a client that does not understand the additional options. This is probably the native UEFI firmware in action. Also, this step never fails. The next file will always at least start to load, even when the slave decides to crash bef...

Network problems
Has anybody faced network-problems with Wine? I'm running RH7 with kernel 2.4.0, have the following network-interfaces: ippp0 for ISDN, my internet connection vmnet1 for one VMWare-"machine" lo0 for whatever ;) I've set up nat & forwarding to get my vmware-client to access to net, as my isp gives only 1 dynamic ip for me. For Wine, I've copied all .DLL -files from my working win98-installation, c:\windows and c:\windows\system -dirs, th...

NT Login with ipchains
...s not allow this, I cannot use domain logons for now. Nevertheless I use some NETBIOS services in the following setup: Linux box with VMware. Only the Linux box has a LAN-IP-address. The two NT-installations running inside VMware build up a private net together with the virtual ethernet-card "vmnet1" of VMware (Host-only networking). Linux (kernel 2.2.5) acts as a router with IP-masquerading for the packages from/to the vmnet. The NT drives of the LAN for example I'am mounting via "netuse". This is o.k. for installing NT-software and saving of data. All other services based...
