Hi! Just wondering if anyone has this working ... Centos-7 guest in VMware-10 host (on Windows-7 :-( ) Out of the box, shared folders and drag&drop do not work although X screen resolution sensing is fine (ie xrandr reports the resolution of the host screen as well as the peculiar screen options built-in) and I can Alt-Enter to full screen quite happily. Does anyone have vmware-tools from the recent server 1.03 release running in a CentOS5 guest VM? vmware-config-tools.pl goes through the motions except for building the vmhgfs module (which it says is only needed for mapping the host file system) but then X won't start up with the new configuration. -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com

All, There are some (very much) testing open-vm-tools RPMS for both the CentOS-4 and CentOS-5 i386 and x86_64 kernel-vm's and standard UP kernels. The kernel-vm's are available here: http://people.centos.org/~tru/kernel-vm/ (The kernel-vm kernels are designed to run inside the VMs at a clock rate of 100HZ instead of 1000Hz.) In an effort to improve the out-of-the-box experience with Linux kernels for VMware users, VMware is working on readying the Virtual Machine Communication Interface (vmw_vmci) and VMCI Sockets (vmw_vsock) kernel modules for inclusion in the Linux kernel. The purpose of this post is to acquire feedback on the vmw_vmci kernel module. The vmw_vsock kernel module will be presented in a later post.
