Adjusting the volblocksize for iscsi VMFS backing stores
I posted this to the forums a little while ago but I believe the list was split at the time: Does anyone have any recommendations for changing the ZFS volblocksize when creating zfs volumes to serve as VMFS backing stores? I''ve seen several people recommend that the volblocksize be set to 64k in this situation- but without much explanation. What are the advantages and disadvantages to using a 64k size in this case? Any insights are appreciated. Thanks, -Don

Seriously corrupt ext3 root filesystem - help?
I just came back after being out for the evening. Apparently there was a power failure long enough to discharge the UPS completely on my Linux box. After powering back up, I received notice that the / filesystem needed "manual fsck"ing. I booted off CD and attempted to fsck. Unfortunately, everything I've tried has proved futile and I'm _desperate_ for some help. I've

iSCSI ini and ESX Server
I always used IET on CentOS but I have a quick server to setup to backup some VM's, then migrate to DAS on another server and the easiest way for me will be to accomplish this via iSCSI vmfs stores. I figured I would just use the ini that ships with CentOS but have never used it against ESX, anyone do this and have experiences they care to share? Should it be trivial or are there any non standard configs that need to be used? Thanks! jlc

OCFS2 and VMware ESX
...e an OCFS2 cluster on 3 SLES 10 SP2 boxes running in VMware ESX 3.0.1. Before I go into any of the detailed errors we are experiencing I first wanted to ask everyone if they have successfully configured this solution? We would be interested to find out what needs to be set at the VMware level (RDM, VMFS, NICS etc) and what needs to be configured at the O/S level. We have a LUN on our SAN that we have presented to our VMware hosts that we are using for this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Highly Performance and Availability
Hello everyone, I am currently running Dovecot as a high performance solution to a particular kind of problem. My userbase is small, but it murders email servers. The volume is moderate, but message retention requirements are stringent, to put it nicely. Many users receive a high volume of email traffic, but want to keep every message, and *search* them. This produces mail accounts up to

[PATCH] v2v: -i vmx: Allow ssh URLs to use spaces.
In previous discussion here: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2017-December/thread.html#00027 we preferred to use ssh://... URLs instead of server:/path. However the URL approach had the problem that the user had to replace spaces with %20 in the paths. However since using space gives an error, we can replace spaces with %20 safely in code, thus removing one obstacle from users.

[PATCH v2 2/2] v2v: -i vmx: Enhance VMX support with ability to use ‘-it ssh’ transport.
...pport allowing it to be used over SSH to the ESXi server. The original command (for local .vmx files) was: $ virt-v2v -i vmx guest.vmx -o local -os /var/tmp Adding ‘-it ssh’ and using an SSH remote path gives the new syntax: $ virt-v2v \ -i vmx -it ssh \ "root@esxi.example.com:/vmfs/volumes/datastore1/guest/guest.vmx" \ -o local -os /var/tmp I anticipate that this input method will be widely used enough that it deserves its own example at the top of the man page. --- v2v/cmdline.ml | 26 +++++-- v2v/input_libvirt_other.ml | 9 --- v2v/input_libvirt...
