strange phenomenon on CPU affinity
...I uses Xen 4.0.1 as the hypervisor. When I use 8 VMs to conduct a test, CPU affinity of the VMs is very strange. Like this: vm_name vcpu_num cpu_affinity Domain-0 8 any VM1 4 1,3,5,7 VM2 4 1,3,5,7 VM3 4 1,3,5,7 VM4 4 1,3,5,7 VM5 4 1,3,5,7 VM6 4 0,2,4,6 VM7 4 0,2,4,6 VM8 4 0,2,4,6 I do not set the CPU affinity in the configuration file, and I cannot find when the hypervisor set the CPU affinity in the source code. In this situation, 4 VCPUs of each VM are bind...

...k looses the ip address and mac address while the bridge gets them. Why does it need to be that way. Why cant bridge act as a dummy interface and eth0 remains unchanged. 2.   Is it possible to allow 2 vms (vm1, vm2) to use the bridge, 2 other vms (vm3 and vm4) to use NAT topology and other 2 vms (vm5 and vm6) to use Routed topology over the same physical network interface ?    i.e can I configure physical interface to    a. connect to the bridge    b. Act as a NAT router    c. Normal router    all together ?   What kind of setup needs to be done on dom0 and can I select the vif script via...

CentOS 4.2 and VMWare
Has anyone successfully installed CentOS 4.2 within VMWare 5 and have it run successfully. I tried doing this last night, but after the install, it cannot boot. It hangs at the GRUB message. I have used CentOS 4.1 many times within VMWare without problems. I did a search and found some where people have had this problem, but not within VMWare. The problems seem to have been related to SCSI

Weird network performance behaviour?
I'm recording TCP network throughput performance between Dom0 IP stack and all my guest domains (currently 6 running simultaneously). All guests are running simultaneously, but I only ever transmit between Dom0 and one of the DomUs while the other five are idle. When running a netperf TCP_STREAM test (netperf on Dom0, netserver on DomU) I record the following performance numbers, CPU % as
