Possible bug in kickstart
...n it. I have provided my network section below which works fine as long as i don't enable all the bridge content.
When the installation starts off the creation of bond0 and all VLANs on bond0 go without issue. Jumping into TTY2 I can type 'ip a' and see all the bond0 device and bond0.VLANID devices no problem.
When I enable bridge content with --bridgeslaves=bond0 or --bridgeslaves=bond0.VLANID anaconda barfs
When I enable bridge content with --bridgeslaves=em1 or --bridgeslaves=em2 anaconda doesn't have an issue.
Is this expected behaviour? I really don't want to have to...

[Bridge] swithing trunk (tagged 802.1q traffic) with brctl
...Cisco -I've checked it with port mirroring in
the Cisco).
I've performed some tests and the behaviour of VLAN in Linux seems to be as
follows: when a tagged packet arrives to the interface, the kernel checks if
there is some matching subinterface (for example, if the packet is tagged
with VLANID=200, a eth2.200 is looked for). In that case, the packet is
deliver (untagged) to that interface, otherwise the packet is discarted (so,
it is never arrives to the bridge).
Is that right? (I've asked this question also in the VLAN support list) Is
there some way to change this behaviour (so un...

kickstart bonding
...es=eth0,eth1 --bondopts=...
Kickstart gives an error to the bond0 line saying "The provided
network interface bond0 does not exist". Why? Then I put a 'modprobe
bonding' line to my %pre section. Now same error in the following
line:
network --onboot=yes --noipv6 --device=bond0 --vlanid=1
--bootproto=static --ip=192.168.1.1 --netmask=255.255.255.0
It is clear as I do not have bond0.1 but why should I have at setup
time. I do not want to use at setup time only in my final
installation.
I am lost that point so I turned to the list. I do not really
understand why kickstart use inte...

IP Instances with VLAN''s
Hi,
how can ip instances be used with vlans ? Is that possible ?
I don''t know how to configure this, if I only have one interface (e.g. bge0), and want to
assign e.g. bge1000 to a zone. Any cookbooks available ?
Thanks

packets from DomU on VLAN disappear
Hi,
I have a problem similar to the previous poster (thread: Virtual network of DomU''s), but apparently not with similar solutions...
Situation:
- two physical links aggregated to "default0"
- dladm create-vlan on default0 with several different vlans
- xVM DomU running linux connected to the same vlans
when trying to ping the DomU from Dom0, I can see with snoop (in Dom0)

Bug in shorewall
I just added 802.1Q VLAN support to redhat initscripts. And after
support was ready, I tried to restart shorewall. Well it blew into
pieces. Seems like shorewall can''t handle device names like:
eth0.3 very properly. That''s default naming of vlan devices. eth1 is
master device and 3 is id of my test vlan.
So when I added to interfaces line:
home eth0.3 detect
seems like

Hi!
I''v just recently set that kind of eviroment up. What Host OS are you running becouse i wrote 2 diffrent howtos for Red Hat and one for SuSe.
But in theory you just have 1 interface for ex: eth0
then you do vconfig add eth0 VLANID
when that is done you create a bridge something like this:
brctl addbr brVLANID
brctl addif brVLANID eth0.VLANDID
when that is setup you should change "network-script=network-bridge" to "network-script=network-dummy" within your xend-config.sxp so Xend doesnt screw up y...

More complex Xen Networking, with VLANs and maybe with VDE 2... but how?!
--- In english ---
Hello!
I am to implement a new architecture of the network in my company but I do
not know right where to start ... need help!
Currently 90% of my servers are virtual machines under Xen. I have many
valid IP networks and all Hypervisors are configured in bridge mode, to
simplify. We have 3 VMWare ESX Hypervisor also in bridge mode.
Some networks are exclusive to certain
