W2k no longer has Trust to samba pdc
SMB.conf, smbpasswd, log files attached to this message.
I have several W2k Workstations, with a SAMBA 2.2.3 PDC.
Looking at the logs it seems that stevedallas (W2K client) is getting
validation errors as "visitor"
(which DOES exist...)
I am not sure what happened, but I must have removed all of the important
parts of the
server validation.

stupid user tricks with ices2: "No such file or directory" :P
Michael and Karl,
Thanks for your replies.
Sorry for confusing you with bad test info. The contents of
playlist.txtthat I referred to in my earlier email did not match the
log result I
specified. However, I had ran the test with both a full and relative path in
playlist.txt; "/home/john/Visitors.ogg" and "Visitors.ogg".
Got it working, however. Tried playing a different ogg file than
Visitors.ogg and it worked!!! If you want to test the file
Visitors.oggyourself:

stupid user tricks with ices2: "No such file or directory" :P
...t_basic_get_next_filename
Loading playlist from file "/home/john/playlist.txt"
[2005-12-07 05:37:51] WARN playlist-builtin/playlist_read Error opening
file "Vistors.ogg": No such file or directory
...
And I've made playlist.txt as simple as I can:
playlist.txt:
/home/john/Visitors.ogg
Yes, there is a file called Visitors.ogg in /home/john. I can play the file
just fine in Zinf.
Does ices2 expect .ogg files to be in another specific directory? From
reading the docs, the path to the .ogg files are specified in the playlist
file.
Any ideas? Suggestions?
Thanks for your help...

Chat With Your Websites/Weblogs Visitors
Hello,
As a webmaster or blogger, you would love to chat with your website or weblog visitors.
Having a professional live support system on your website gives more credibility to it. Your website visitors trust you and your website when they can talk to you live. Good live support is something that a professional website needs.
Bloggers spend lots of time on their weblogs to be in touch w...

Finding an average time spent
Hello R help!
I am extremely new to R (as in 3 just days) and I've been using it to do
some pretty basic things. I am frustratingly stuck on one point, and am so
so so close to figuring it out, but just far enough away to ask for some
(perhaps embarrassingly easy) help.
I have a dataset, visitors, that has a variable called Time.Spent.
Time.Spent consists of times in the format hh:mm:ss , and it is a
measurement, kind of like a timer, of the amount of time someone spent in a
museum exhibit.
I need to find the average time spent. I've figured the easiest way to do
this would be to con...

question about how to set up an active record adapter to prefer use of prepared statements...
...s WHERE addrs.user_id = 153 FETCH FIRST 1 ROWS ONLY
I do have this hook set up:
def supports_statement_cache?
trueend
And I added this, but I am not familiar with its function, copying from
another driver:
if @config.fetch(:prepared_statements) { true }
@visitor = Arel::Visitors::NuoDB.new self
else
@visitor = BindSubstitution.new self
end
Is there anything I need to do to get more statements run as prepared
statements instead of ordinary ones?
Thanks in advance,
Bob

[threadsafe] Arel ToSql visitor is not threadsafe
Hey,
We hit a bug today because Arel::Visitors::ToSql is not threadsafe.
Here is what is happening:
Arel::Visitors::ENGINE_VISITORS is a cache of visitors instances.
These instances are not inherently threadsafe because it contains
state ''@last_column'', ''@connection'' that is shared between threads.

degrading gracefully - how to tell if JS is enabled?
Is there a RoR best practice wrt determing in a visitor''s browser has JS disabled? Is there even a way to find out? I''ve got a couple of pages in my app that are not going to degrade gracefully at all. I really need to point a visitor who has JS disabled down a seperate path. Any ideas?
Thanks,

Determining ideal number of Mongrels for an app?
What''s a rule of thumb for guesstimating how many
Mongrels to use in a cluster for an app? I have an app
that gets about 5000 unique visitors per day. I
figured I''d give it plenty of Mongrels -- twenty to be
specific. After running out of memory and hitting the
swap periodically, I scaled it back to five and it
still seems to serve up visitors fine. So, is there
some super-secret math fomula I can use to determine
the ideal numb...

rails and visitor stats
Hi,
I was wondering how people monitor their visitors. I''m about to set
something up to get some basic usage stats of my rails websites. I''d be
interested to know what software you use or if perhaps you built
something into your rails app.

Q: Share Definitions, how to make a 'truely public' area
Greetings,
I am trying to set up a "Public" share that visitors who do not
have accounts in our system have ro access to, while staff members
(who do have accounts) have rw access.
Our department has visitors who plug laptops into our network who
will only be there once, and want to copy some of our software. However,
with the following share definition, staf...

In this example, we have Routes, Stops and Visitors.
Using Method 1, the POST request would be aimed at the Routes

the stops and the visitors records. Using Method 2, each prior node
