xen 4.1.1 missing veth0 <--> vif0.0 pairs
...(Xen 3.4.4 and
linux kernel 2.6.18) Xen by default created veth0 <--> vif0.0 pair in dom0.
With Xen 4.1.1 these pairs are missing in dom0.
Using command ''ip link add type veth'' I can create veth0 and veth1 but
vif0.0 is still missing in dom0. (When new domU created I can see vif1.x
created)
Could you please help me with understanding following things
1) Is veth is replaced by something? and if yes what is it?
2) How to create veth0 <--> vif0.0 pairs? Or how to create vif0.x
interfaces?
3) In which version of Xen these changes regarding veth - vif0.0 are made?
Thank y...

[dhcp] virtual server on DomU & dhcp relay
...er to virtualize a complete local servers farm,
using dom0 in front and multiple domU behind.
I''m using an external interface, eth0, on Dom0, and a dummy interface, on
which the DomUs are bridged through xenbr0.

Within the virtualized servers I''ve installed a simple dhcp server which
responds to dhcp requests sent by clients of my local network.
I''ve installed a dhcp relay on Dom0 in order to resend the request to the

sorting virtual network interface names with xen
Hi,
how would I make it so that a particular virtual network interface of
dom0 is attached to a particular bridge created for a particular VM?
When I start the VM with 'virsh start <domU>', I get interfaces vif1.0,
vif1.1 and vif1.2. After shutting down domU with 'virsh shutdown
<domU>' and starting it again as before, the virtual network interfaces
are vif2.0, vif2.1 and vif2.2.
I want them to keep their names so that they would be vif1.[0-2] again.
In the end, I want to give them differe...

vif''s disappear after dom1 reboot
...can not ping some of my domU''s. I logged in to dom0,
did a "xm list", all domU are there. Then I did a "ifconfig" and
surprised to find some of vif''s disappeared!
Like for example. "xm list" show dom13 is alive, but "brctl show"
shows no vif13.0.
If I "xm console 13", there''s some message:
WARNING: g.e. still in use!
WARNING: leaking g.e. and page still in use!
I found following in /var/log/message:

Xen Starting DomainU:Error: Device 0 (vif) could not be connected. Hotplug scripts not working
hi,
I am trying to start a new domainU but got the error:
Error: Device 0 (vif) could not be connected. Hotplug scripts not working
I have struggled with it for a long time. I found somebody else report this
but can not find a solution.
The xen version is xen-3.0 latest version.
I do not have a initrd.
Domain0 works fine but when I create a new domain, it always gives an error
as above.
Thanks,

Bug#1042842: network interface names wrong in domU (>10 interfaces)
Package: xen-utils-4.17
Version: 4.17.1+2-gb773c48e36-1
Severity: important
Dear Maintainers,
On one of our domUs we discovered that the network interface names were
wrongly assigned since recreating the domU after an upgrade to bookworm.
If over 10 network interfaces are configured the mapping (dom0) vifX.10
<-> eth10 (domU) does not apply anymore.
Instead the interfaces on dom0 are
