script help - '3rd last field'
Hi
I need some logic to work out a value for me - this value is _always_
the 3rd last field in a string seperated by '.' but the string could be
5 or 6 fields long, e.g
foo.bar.VALUE.baz.lala
foor.bar.gigi.VALUE.baz.lala
I need to find VALUE - if this were python or something i could do it
but this has to be in shell -
Any clues?
thanks

Problem with regression line
Hi, Anne,
assign Age and Bloodpressure in the correct order
to the axes in your call to plot as in:
plot(y = Age, x = BloodPressure)

update clamav to 0.99.2
Helo,
update is in EPEL repository.
on startup, clamd does not further create clamd.sock and clamd.pid
clamd service stops without any message - even in debug mode.
It's a nightmare.

testing shorewall6 on a virtual machine
I want to test shorewall6 in a scenario with several virtual machines. Each virtual machine has the interface eth0.
With IPv4, I would assign an IP-alias to eth0:1 and so would have eth0 and eth0:1 as interfaces for shorewall6.
How is this done with IPv6?

How to generate a list of lists recursively (for bayesm)
Dear all,
I need to generate a list of lists as required by the bayesm-package. This means in my application that I have to generate a list which consists of 2000 elements, which are lists themselves:
list(list(y1,X1),...,list(y2000,X2000)).
The y are vectors and the X are matrices of different dimensions. I tried to solve this problem iteratively by the following code, but received an error

bug in rbinom? (PR#1190)
Full_Name: Kert Viele
Version: 1.3
OS: Windows ME and 2000
Submission from: (NULL) (65.6.218.65)
Hello! Thanks for all your efforts on R. They are appreciated!
I was simulating the central limit theorem in class,
but found that repeated use of
mean(rbinom(100000,500,0.4))
resulted in values less than 200 (the expected mean), for example

Kernel 3.4.6: cifs problem
Hallo,
I've just tried kernel 3.4.6, self compiled, with the ".config" from
kernel 3.3.7.
Samba version 3.5.14 (slackware)
When I run a script with (among many other lines) the command
mount.cifs //$share/$src /path/to/$target \
-o noperm,sec=ntlmv2,$Loginparms
(which runs without any problem under kernel 3.3.7) then I get an error
message (some cifs problem), and the
