TextMate language weirdness
....
The _spec.rb file has the language "Ruby on Rails" selected.
I change the language to "RSpec".
I then do a ctrl-shift-down to switch back to the rails file.
The rails file has the language "Ruby" selected.
I select the language "Ruby on Rails" and the whole vicious cycle
begins again.
(No files remember what language they are supposed to be.)
I''m running TextMate build 1414 and RSpec.tmbundle r2691.
Anyone else experiencing the same behavior?
Is the problem with me, TextMate or RSpec.tmbundle or something
completely different?

FastCGI in Shared Hosting - What To Do?
Hello Campers!
I am working on Site5, trying to get a working Camping application
running. Unfortunately, my sole option in terms of deployment is FastCGI.
I have no access to sudo so I cannot create ScriptAliases.
I''ve taken the Camping Short Short Example and uploaded it, along with a
dispatch.fcgi and an .htaccess file.
My question is - given the state of Camping development right

Major RAC slowdown
Hello again. Our production cluster has begun experiencing some vicious slowdowns that may (or may not) be related to the filesystems. When the problem occurs, the load average on the servers jumps up to 30 or higher. Usually one node will climb while the other drops, then they will switch places a few minutes later. At one point, we had one node's load average...

patch in http://bugs.debian.org/425234 a go.
Now, of course, having gone through that little trial, I''m better equipped
to hunt down some of the more vicious segfaults people have been finding for
a long time now...
As an aside, what are people using to provide the ruby-shadow functionality
on other platforms? The standard distribution only provides ''etc'' (for
/etc/passwd and /etc/group), not the shadow equivalents, and I can'...

NUT messes up UPS after mains power is restored

What have I done wrong here? Why doesn't the UPS detect that the mains power is already back when the USB serial connection is plugged in. It seems to me that the command given by the pfsense NU...

iproute2, alternative tables, no default route: routing trouble for localhost
...for localhost and
added default route to "local" table. 192.168.1.4 has started to have
the route, but the rest of the scheme started to work incorrectly.
So, the question is: how does the routing of packets comming from
localhost is being accomplished?
As to me there is a kind of "vicious circle" situation, because to enter
alternative routing table there should already be "source address", but
for localhost which have many source addresses it should decide which
route it needs to have the corresponding "source address" be set.

Integrating samba with existing AD
Hi everyone,
I am currently trying to set-up a samba server in my network in order to
replace the existing windows samba server. It's been now two weeks that I am
struggling with a vicious problem, and I cannot see any issue right now.
Before I loose all my hairs, I am sharing with you this problem : hopefully,
someone will have a tip for me.
The software involved :
Server Linux CentOS 5.6
Windows 2003 Serveur R2 with working AD and another DNS server working just

But how to restore it? By destroying the new one created by

Perhaps I am missing something very obvious, so please help me out of
this vicious cycle.

RE: stange behavior of subset [] (was: lowess + turnpoints = doubling integers?)
...ecause as.integer creates integers by truncating the numeric
representation, this coercion can lead to unexpected results.
and in help(as.integer):
...
The numbers are truncated (moved to the closest integer the original number
that is towards zero). Attributes are deleted.
However, this could be vicious! Why not to round double in as.integer()?
Perhaps for performance questions?
Yet, this is not documented at all in R (neither in help("["), nor in
help(as.integer)!!!). Any other comment on this?
Best,

SIP registration DoS but no logs in messages
Dear mailing list,
I've a Asterisk 1.4.21.2~dfsg-3+lenny1 package installed on my debian
and I've a strange behavior.
After some days running normally, my asterisk is under heavy attack,
however, there is nothing logged in the console (logging from debug ->
error) or file (level from notice ->error)
I can see that there is also a peak on the network traffic.
My first guess is that

Client certificates
While browsing the sources of the nss-ssl-port sources I noticed that
client certificates were added. What is the reason behind this? As far
as I can see, using a server certificate and validating it in the
upsmon client should provide us with a secure channel. Authorizations
for the server will then be handled by the settings in upsd.users by
logging into the server with user and

Quicktime components and FLAC
Hi all,
OK, so I just bought myself a nice shiny new powerbook. Nice machine.
Very nice machine :-)
But, iTunes does not understand FLAC. My Digitised music collection
(entirely my own, ripped from my cd's, blah, blah, blah) is now mostly
in FLAC (as I slowly go through and convert it will all be in FLAC :-)
So, I have a problem. Or, if you want to look at it another way, I have
an itch. An

Readline <= 6.2 shouldn't require the SIGWINCH patch, so if older
versions have trouble finding rl_resize_terminal then you could wrap a
macro around that part.
The isearch C-c bug has existed forever, according to Chet Ramey. Yes,
I had to retrain myself to use C-g to exit isearch but it's confusing.
It would be nice to fix this C-c bug on older versions too, but my

MoH - conversion command
Hi,
I've been trying to get MoH files to sound decent. I've got a hold of
Royalty-free Classical music (a safe choice for most of my customers) and
I`ve been trying to convert them to the normal telephony/Asterisk format
using sox. Unfortunately, it sounds really bad. I don't expect concert hall
quality of course, 8000KHz being what it is, but is there a better way to

From: The SANS Institute Research Office
Subj: Malicious 911 Virus Wipes Out Hard Drives of Internet Users
At 8:00 am on Saturday, April 1 (This is not an April Fool's joke!)
the FBI announced it had discovered malicious code wiping out the data on
hard drives and dialing 911. This is a vicious virus and needs to
be stopped quickly. That can only be done through wide-scale
individual action. Please forward this note to everyone who you
know who might be affected.
The FBI Advisory is posted at http://www.nipc.gov/nipc/advis00-038.htm
