Virtual Hard Disk (VHD) is a file format standard which maps logical hard disk
contents to a physical disk image format, which can then be more efficiently
stored in a variety of different storage types, such as file systems or
logical volumes.

VHDs are container files storing block metadata alongside a virtual disk's

...g those steps did not work out to me.
I am using XCP 1.6 over, hen hypervisor 4.1.1 on Ubuntu 12.10. And as the
management tool, I am using Cloudstack 4.1.1.
The error started when I tried to create a template from a VM image, I
guess something went wrong at the time that Cloudstack was copying the
VHDs.
Would you have any ideas in how to work this around?

[XCP] Error when trying to import vmware images
Hi list,
I have recently migrated to XCP from Vmware Server 2 and have run into
issues importing the VM''s
Following citrix''s guide I tried using XenCenter to do the import directly
on the vmdk files
this resulted in XenCenter logging this error:
"Failed to import. ---> System.Exception: Failed to import virtual disk
file. ---> System.Xml.XmlException: Root element

URI Handling Patch
...struct was
being used to indicate the path. That's natural enough, but that practice
is what was dropping the query string. The query string is kept separately
from the path. I now concat the query string back onto the URI with a
separating '?'.
I've successfully mounted remote vhds in Azure with this new code, and the
basic set of tests pass. If there's anything else I can do by way of
verification, please let me know.

I don't have a simple repro for qemu, but this is pretty close. In
guestfish do this:
add

Create Virtualbox image from running system?
I see that Microsoft has a utility that (apparently) can read a running system and create an image that can then be imported and run on Virtualbox.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/disk2vhd
"You can even have Disk2vhd create the VHDs on local volumes, even ones being converted (though performance is better when the VHD is on a disk different than ones being converted)."
Is there anything that does the same thing for Linux, and can image a system like that while it's actually running?

As Pino says, we can't just append the path and the query string.
I think the way to go is to add an extra parameter to the

Regarding SR Reattchemnet in XCP 1.5
I created a NFS VHD SR(\nfs\xxxx-yyyy-zzzz-wwww) on host “A” and created
set of disks(vhds).
I de-attached the SR from “A” and attached to host “B”.
Host B seeing all the disks. Its working up to that fine.
But I again de-attached the SR and attached to host A, it shows no disks in
that SR.
While reattaching to host “A” it shows the SR existing but after attached
nothing comes.

Poor IO performance in hosts and VMs - XCP 1.0 b42052
...nvolved, but apart from that, I get 930-950Mb/s, which I
am happy with.
However, as soon as I start testing from a XCP host, the iSCSI
performance drops from the 50-55 MB/s in Ubuntu to 25-30 in XCP.
What really bugs me, is the VM performance - on a good day, I get
10MB/s writes to the iSCSI root VHDs, with short peaks of 20-25. The
performance varies greatly, from those peaks of 20-25 to deep troughs
of 2-3MB/s. Writing to an NFS share from a VM is still fine, though -
in-VM NFS performance equals that of a "raw" Ubuntu install.
Furthermore, I have a few hosts with local SSDs meant f...

Re: URI Handling Patch
...ing the query string to the path is a good idea.
For example, we do a minimum of parsing of the URI, and for some
protocols (like the "We may have to adjust the path ..." comment says)
we adjust path according to the elements in the query string.
