Manage mails from server
I've configure Dovecot with shared namespace and IMAP ACL's to make a group mailboxes. I use maildir mailboxes, and I add dovecot-shared file to each group mailbox. So each user with access to group mailbox has their own \Seen flag. And now I need automatically delete a mail from server after 2 weeks after each user has readed email in shared mailbox. How can I from, e.g. Perl script, get

unlinking
Quick question. How important are these? Are the errors recoverable and not a big deal, or are they actually a problem? I see a few of these randomly over the course of the day. Dovecot (IMAP) Hangs sometimes
Hi there! I'm using Dovecot 1.0.7 in RHEL 5.4 64bits as a IMAP/POP3 server. Dovecot authenticates users against an AD server via kerberos (pam configuration) and clients connect to it via IMAPs and POP3s with SSL. Webmail is in localhost and connects locally also with SSL. All is fine and people use the email server normally and with no problems. But, I have noticed that dovecot hangs

auth, partially resolved
Hello people, After a lot of wading through the dovecot documentation (which btw, is excellent !, everything lies under "dovecot/doc/wiki"), I managed to authenticate a couple of accounts. For starters, I want dovecot to work as an imap/imaps box and nothing else. So , I went ahead and created a "passwd" file with two users. One user being my name (spyros) and plaintext

Saving Sent Messages to Sent Folder
Hi Timo, There was another thread (it has come up at least a few times in the past few years I've been lurking) on the postfix list about having some kind of automatic 'Save to Sent' option to avoid the users mail client from having to upload messages twice (obviously the only ones of concern are ones with large attachments) - once to send it, and once to save the copy in the sent

manipulating mails
Hi all, sorry for my inexperience. I am still learning. I searched for a while but found nothing useful. I am looking for the best way to manipulate headers, bodies, attachments, locations, folders and/or flags while using deliver and e.g. perl. In other words manipulating the whole mail in respect of the requirements of the LDA, MUA and User. I see two diffent ways. As i understand I can

Dovecot Sieve: Vacation Recipient
Hi! I tried to use the sieve vacation plugin, but we're facing a little problem: our user's addresses are <uid>@<domain>, and if they want to use imap and sieve, they can have a forward to <uid>@imap.<domain>. The return-path, and hence the address the vacation message is sent to, is then <uid>@<domain> and not the original sender of the message. Is

Discard duplicate messages at delivery?
Hello, I am using dovecot 1.2.9, and the sieve plugin for filtering incoming messages into specific folders. The MTA is postfix, and deliver is called using the "mailbox_command = /usr/lib/dovecot/deliver" directive. Is it possible to make dovecot's deliver discard duplicate messages? With cyrus there is a duplicatesuppression directive which works well

Files Moving From /New to /Cur
Using Dovecot 1.2-9 with Maildir and layout=FS. We have our own delivery pushing messages to the /new and then /cur folder eventually. When I have an IMAP client attached, there is apparently some sort of race going on. I believe that Dovecot is moving files from /new to /cur (and renaming them) before our own delivery gets the job done. This is causing a problem for us. Is there a way

Socket permission 432/384 and dovecot.conf
Sorry for that question but: when you set in dovecot.conf this for example: socket listen { client { path = /var/spool/postfix/private/auth mode = 0660 user = postfix group = postfix } } and you run "dovecot -n" you'll see client: path: /var/spool/postfix/private/auth mode: 432 I'm wondering about the mode "432" - how is this value

Delete messages with archivemail
Hi, I have set up a dovecot imap server (Version 1.0.15 on Debain Lenny). Until know I used courier. Every night I run a script calling archivemail ( http://archivemail.sourceforge.net/) to delete all messages in the Spam folder that are older than 30 days archivemail deletes the files directly in the Maildir folder. I am not using IMAP for this (cause I don't want to store the passwords

disabling mail delivery for a user
How can I disable mail delivery for a user yet still allow access to their mailbox from another account which their mail is shared to? If I put them in a userdb which has "deny = yes" that just disables their ability to login, yes? And they would still have mail delivered. I want to disable their ability to login AND bounce all mail delivered to them, preferably solely through dovecot

fts squat -> webmail, fastcgi timeout: SOLR the answer?
Hi I turned on fts squat to speed up full text searches over webmail. This works absolutely fantastic once the mailboxes are indexed. But when they are indexed for the first time I'm getting a fastcgi timeout after 30 seconds resulting into a internal server error on the webserver. In the background the indexing job is getting finished after 80 seconds for a 25k emails, ~300MB mailbox. Does

Feature request? Make deliver quota inclusive!
hi all, I'd like to make deliver put mail into a nearly full mailbox even when they become overquota as a result. The same problem came up a few weeks ago: http://dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2010-January/045695.html Since no solution was offered may I suggest this topic as an additional feature for future releases? ;-) This is a important for me because sometimes users are lazy. They think

Client behaviour with sieve
Hi, I have a working dovecot imap-server, with sieve. I find it odd that my mail-clients (Thunderbird 2 and 3) don't report anything that's new in the folders. What I mean is this : Postfix get's a mail and hands it over to dovecot's LDA and sieve moves it to a folder. When I log in with Thunderbird, I see new messages in my Inbox. But that message that was moved to a folder is

Occasional problem with POP3-Download
Hello everyone, I have two mailservers [1] running dovecot. Mail store format is maildir. Every once in a while I have the following problem: When a User downloads his mail via POP3, the client says something like "the server has closed the connection unexpectedly, and gives this reason: [...blahblah...]". One can now cancel the download, and restart it, and the problem shows up again

1.2.10 and questions
Hi, 1) Why dovecot -n doesn't display default values? At least it didn't display mail_max_userip_connections(default): 20 mail_max_userip_connections(imap): 20 mail_max_userip_connections(pop3): 10 if I had set ONLY mail_max_userip_connections (to be =10) 2) "Maximum number of connections from user+IP exceeded (mail_max_userip_connections): " Could it be enhanced to
