centos driver disk?
...ent discussion of support for Promise SATA drives reminded me
that a while back i remember reading about a project to assemble a
driver disk to provide wider hardware support than just stock
CentOS. how's that coming along? i don't see anything in the wiki
about it...
as i have a vested interest in this project (since i'm still relying
on old MegaRAID controllers), i'd be willing to help out with it.
what's the current status, and what needs doing?
thanks,

Google Chrome and CentOS 6?
...>> seems to be stuck at an ancient version of the browser.
Right, Johnny Hughes (I think) used to build it, but IIRC he had to stop
for reasons that you can find by searching this mailing list.
Note that I'm personally not interested in getting chrome to work for
CentOS 6, but I have a vested interest in keeping it working in 7, so
when the time comes I'll very likely find a solution myself and share it.

to stop trying to squeeze the bloated monster that C++ has become onto

Rails 1.1 hosed my Apache!
Just sharing an experience with you all -- hopefully you take better
precautions than I do. :-)
I have a few sites built with Rails 0.8.3 that were ugpraded to 1.0.
The newer sites are on edge rails. So when I heard 1.1 had come out,
I unfroze my new apps, and installed the new gem for Rails 1.1.
The sites that was operating on edge rails worked just fine.
However, the sites that were working

Tom, can you repost the series? Seems like there hasn't been any

Windows ACM codec status
What is the status of the vorbis ACM codec? I certainly hope I am not the
only one with a vested interest in its development and there's been no
talk of its status on the list lately.

Hi Phil,
thank you for your answer.
I tried with this after installing ELrepo repository:
yum --enablerepo=elrepo install kmod-nvidia
but I get the same result for different version.

really? ;-)
the problem is that there is no standarized way to store metadata in a
WAVE file, like with FLAC tags / vorbis comments in flac files....

RPMFusion and NVIDIA driver problem
Hi list,
I'm on C8.1 and I'm trying to install NVIDIA driver from
rpmfusion-nonfree repository but it returns:
?package kmod-nvidia-3:440.82-2.el8.x86_64 requires
kmod-nvidia-4.18.0-147.el8.x86_64 >= 3:440.82-2.el8, but none of the
providers can be installed
? - conflicting requests
? - nothing provides kernel < 4.18.0-148.el8 needed by

[LLVMdev] Poll Results: Do you prefer Git or SVN for LLVM development?
...At
noon PST on Monday morning, we are at 70 supporting Git-only, 12
supporting SVN-only, and 12 supporting both. Or Git-only vs the rest
at 70-to-24, roughly 3-to-1. I think this suggests either that the
community is abandoning the incumbent VCS, or that there are a number
of private forks with a vested interested in switching to a DVCS.
What I find most interesting is that Git support is so high despite
the GettingStarted page encouraging the use of SVN and referring to
Git as just a mirror.

[cfe-dev] [RFC] Open sourcing and contributing TAPI back to the LLVM community
...fic SDK. So, for example, these use cases:
* on linux, compile & link a binary targeting macos
* on windows, compile & link a binary targeting macos
This works today, although it depends on a patch to LLD to fix the MACH-O
linker that is not high enough quality to upstream.
So we have a vested interest in improving the MACH-O linker, and in fact a
Zig community member has fixed at least one bug in MACH-O LLD:
reviews.llvm.org/D35387
I don't fully understand how TBD or TAPI works, but I hope that it results
in improvements to the MACH-O linker.

rsync 2.5.6 timeout bug
...ests that it might be broken as well.
I'm happy to fix these problems if someone can confirm that I'm on the right
track and my understanding is correct. I'm currently completely unable to
use rsync to reliably mirror CPAN to the inside of our corporate firewall,
so I have a strong vested interest in fixing these issues.
Once again, please reply direct as I'm not on the list.
