[LLVMdev] Proposal to add Bitcode version field to bitcode file wrapper
...ace this information, we are considering two different possibilities for updating the bitcode wrapper specification.
The first is to simply add a single 32bit wide field at the end of the existing bitcode wrapper format field. This would result in the new structure looking like this:
[Magic_{32}, Version_{32}, Offset_{32}, Size_{32}, CPUType_{32}, BitcodeVersion_{32}]
All of the existing fields would keep their current meanings, and the new field BitcodeVersion is simply appended with the format described in the first paragraph.
A second idea was to use the existing Version field in the bitcode wr...

Installing R 3.5 on Ubuntu bionic stopped(?) working
Hello all,
i am one of the maintainers of the open-source
https://repo2docker.readthedocs.io/ tool. The tool builds a container image
from a directory. Depending on what it finds in the directory it will
install different software for the user. The focus of the tool is to make
it easier for researchers to create environments in which their code runs
and can then be used to share and reproduce

Latest MANAGESIEVE patch -- how to start daemon?
Hello list,
I'm using Dovecot 1.0.0 on FreeBSD 6.2-RELEASE and applied the latest
MANAGESIEVE patch v3 [1] which seems to have worked smoothly, i.e. all
hunks succeeded and no compilation problems.
Now this may be stupid question with an obvious answer, but I am at a
loss at how to start the daemon? What's the binary called that starts
the sieve server? Is there a special way to

Installing R 3.5 on Ubuntu bionic stopped(?) working
...s as part of Ubuntu bionic).
Hm, I will be frank. I am a little surprised that ever worked. We offer
- in each distro release exactly one version. So R 3.4.* from bionic.
- by opting into add-on repos like the CRAN one, or c2d4u, or ... additional
ones _but generally only exactly one current version_. So R 3.6.1 now.
We (as providers of these repos) never promised other interim version.

cran2deb for Ubuntu?
Sorry if this has been answered somewhere else (didn't see it), but is
cran2deb fully compatible with Ubuntu?
Novice question: I use install.packages() within R. The pros of using
sudo apt-get instead seem obvious, but are there any cons I should
know about?
Thanks

Ok. Sounds like we were making "off-label" use of the packages then. It was
good while it lasted ;)

lost ability to apt-get install r-base=3.4.2-1trusty1
Hello,
I need a specific version of R installed for consistency reasons. I do the standard setup steps:
echo "deb https://cran.ma.imperial.ac.uk/bin/linux/ubuntu trusty/" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys E084DAB9
sudo apt-get update
And then a simple install call, which used to work just fine some time ago, tosses an

Work on ICECAST : IcecastAdmin, remodularisation, Doc (Docbook), speex ...
Hello,
3 months ago, we (a group of 8 students of the ENSEIRB engineering
school (France))
started to work on icecast.
We decided to work on another CVS server. The aim _was not to fork a new
version_
of Icecast : the idea was to clean the code as fast as possible in order
for new
developers to enter the sources in an easier way.
We mainly worked on format, sources, and tried to clearly separate the
differents activities.
For Format module, the main idea was to open Icecast to new Ogg forma...

R 3.1.2 for Debian jessie/testing available on CRAN
Dear Johannes,
Thanks a lot for this work! I have to admit that I'm now a little bit
puzzled, though. I'm running Debian Jessie (current testing) with great
satisfaction. When it comes to R, I simply have the SID repository
(official Debian) enabled, with some pining to get only R-related stuff.
Now, I'm not sure to understand the benefit of using the CRAN repository
for Jessie?I
