Are there special issues when using XP home with Samba? I have a machine that when trying to log in as the user Mike, the logs show that it is trying to login in as Mike Barsalou. I tried making another user mbarsalou but I can't get it to authenticate properly. I was thinking it was a feature of XP home. Anyone have ideas? Mike

Hello, I've got a redhat9 system with cups and samba3 installed. I want to use this machine for both local and network printing. On the local side apps can print just fine, the cups configuration is working great. Network-side is not the case. I'm running Samba 2.27 on RH8 system. I've got samba as the print spooler for Windows XP clients and using winbind as the user validation against my Win2K DC. Permissions on the spool directory are root root with the sticky bit on. Clients can delete their own jobs from the que, but the spool directory is not being expunged of print jobs and the last job constantly displays in the client

Hi, is there a possibility to map login-names to allowed Kerberos-Principals? At the moment GSSAPI-authentication seems to work only if loginname and kerberos-principal are the same, or am I missing something? It would be really great to use GSSAPI-auth with virtual users. Thanks a lot! S. Thias

Hello, I have a problem to build the samba_3.0 sources for sol9 , i am running gcc-3.3. It works , but the binaries became huge , the samba.pkg is about 450 MB . Now my question; do i need any compiler flags ? i did it with default-settings. Hi. I'm trying to change the permissions on a samba share on my system. I've connected to it using W2K and tried adding an account to the access list as a trial, but when I try and save it I get "access denied". My domain account is mapped to a local user, and that user is an admin on the share. Any ideas or gotchas I should know? Thanks in advance for any help, Eamonn

Hi there. I've installed the new samba3 distribution and I'd like to use the mysql backend for the autentication instead of the normal passwd file. I've read the docs and I've added the correct info to smb.conf. Now, I'd like to create a new user in the database. Is there any script for that or I must do the "INSERT ..." by and (or create a script for that)
