These failures are probably down to trying to run windows services on a
Unix DC where the do not exist.

DCdiag tests
Hey all,
has anyone done dcdiag against his DC yet? It's made from a windows client on command line: dcdiag /s:<servername> What are your results?
With me some of the tests were not successful, e.g. ForestDNSDomain. My dcdiag is German so its output would not be so helpful for the mailing list. So somebody else can do a check to compare?
Thanks in advance

Problem joining a Win2008R2 DC
Hello,
this is now my second attempt to join a Windows Server 2008R2 DC to a
samba AD domain. I had to forcibly remove the first 2k8 DC from the
domain after I messed it up completely in the first try. I followed
"Demoting an Offline Domain Controller" from the wiki here.
This time joining fails right during running dcpromo. I get the error
that it could not replicate

* ObjectsReplicated is passed, but complains that replication access was

* Replications is failed with same error.
* Services fails, because Samba does not have Windows services, that it
expects. And samba NETLOGON is WIN32_OWN_PROCESS, not WIN32_SHARE_PROCESS
* VerifyReferences fails, because there are no sysvol replication
attribute. That is expected.
* ForestDnsZones CheckSDRefDom test fails because of missing
msDS-SD-Reference-Domain attribute. Same with DomainDnsZones
CheckSDRefDom test.

The RPC server is unavailable
I have used the Samba4 Howto as a guide.
I am using OpenSuse 11.3 and the Samba version is:
4.0.0alpha15-GIT-61f7d7c.
Everything was working as intended after installation.
I did a fresh install on another computer of Windows 7.
Joined my freshly made domain.
Installed the remote administration tools.

I am experiencing some other problems with SYSVOL, which may or may not

Samba Migration and AD integration
Hi Rowland,
Thank you.
Yes to the first point.
We are using Bind9 but to continue using it is not necessarily set in stone. If using Samba Internal DNS makes more sense then we can do that too. The question is do we need to do dns-upgrade and use Internal DNS, pre-migration? Then use internal dns during the classic migration? Also, I assume the bind9 service will have to stopped if infact we
