Samba AD - "No logon servers available"
Hi guys,
I've migrated from Samba NT4 to Samba AD, joined other Windows DC's to the domain and then demoted my Samba DC.
I am not being able to login from client computers with the error stated on the subject. I've tried everything, from making sure replication is OK, client DNS configuration also. Registry modifications from prior Samba NT4 domain were reverted in the client.

Problem to join a windows XP
...that the XP machine account was created in AD but it is disabled.
In this AD account, there is no information at the "DNS name" property.
All the tests suggested in wiki where successfully executed

- OpenSuSE Leap 15.0
- no AppArmor or SELinux active

- using Bind9

It sounds like the _ldap DNS record is missing, Windows uses to locate
the DC. Can you please verify that all required _ldap/_kerberos records
exist in the correct zones. For some examples, see:

or because you are no longer a Samba user: ;-)

If all required records exist and logging in still fails, I continue

Which resolve to ip, with PTR's to A, which is the DC hostname.
If this did not work, then you can not power down you AD DC, and keep everything running.

Imo, wiki should mention if you have multiple DC's run the A record test also for the primary domain.

question on password server =
Hi,
I would like to ask how exactly the "password server =" smb.conf option
works. The man pages say that the option is to "restrict Samba to to do
all its username/password validation using a specific remote server"
I know that we should normally leave it empty, to have samba
auto-discover the DCs. But my question is:
