CentOS 5.9 Xen DomU NFS Data Transfer to Dom0 kills network.
Greetings, I have problem using Dom0 as NFS(v4)-server and DomU as client. When ever the client actually tries to copy data to nfs-server the virtual network (bridge) between the two hosts completely freezes and stops working. After this of course the client hangs waiting nfs-server to answer and server continues to try to contact nfslock daemon on the client. Dom0 is still accessible from

Race condition in lightdm greeter setup
I came across a race condition in lightdm greeter setup phase before the login screen is displayed (at boot time or after logout). I reported this also on Launchpad with more details (https://bugs.launchpad.net/lightdm/+bug/1172752), but to work on a proper fix, ideas on how to fix this would be welcome. During greeter setup "lightdm --session-child" is spawned twice. The first call to

Problem with CentOS 5.3 Xen and Windows Server 2008 HVM DomU
Hi, I have CentOS 5.3 64bit and couple of Windows Server 2008 32Bit DomU's on it. Problem is that I got hit with the "A clock interrupt was not recevied on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval" Blue Screen when trying to run with more than one CPU When searching around I found that official XEN distribution (development version) has some fixes for it, but

How to control which command is executed with "plain ssh" from remote machine?
Hi! Is it possible to override in OpenSSH so that the shell specified in the /etc/passwd (or what comes from the LDAP server) is not executed at login? We have na?vely tried to specify this with subsystem but found out that by default the ssh client does not specify any subsystem. So how to override something that is unset from the client? /John -- John Olsson Ericsson AB BSC/BSS System Management -------------------------------------------------- Tel: +46 (0)...

Strange problem with guest having more than 3 virtual interfaces.
Hi, I have 6 DomU's with 4-virtual interfaces and 1 DomU with only one. When starting the DomU's in order where the domain with only one interface is started last it refuses to start with following error. If I start it first there is no problem starting them all. ---Error--- [2011-10-02 18:37:33 xend.XendDomainInfo 6728] DEBUG (XendDomainInfo:1335) XendDomainInfo.handleShutdownWatch

New version of Rtools for Windows
...se 10 or so lines from compat.c, I can complete the build straight through rinstaller. However, I get that failure issue due to the extra 0 in scientific notation [7]. It does not matter if I do the entire process in the MSYS2 environment, or if I do in in Windows with msys\usr\bin in my path. Na?vely, it seems that if there were some what for stdio to be included in compat.c, yet the versions of snprintf and vsprintf in that file to "override" the standard, perhaps this method would work. Of course, running make check-all may uncover more issues. I intend to run the equivalent checks...

FreeBSD DDoS protection
Hi, I have a router running BGP and OSPF (bird) on FreeBSD. Are there any best practises one can take in order to protect the network from DDoS attacks. I know this isn't easy. But I would like to secure my network as much as possible. Even if I'am not able to prevent or block a ddos I would like to get some info (snmp trap parhaps) regarding the attack. Then I can contact my ISP or

Pareto frontier plots in three dimensions
Hello all This is my first posting for some years. I am back using R again and must say I do like the language (regarding scripting, I also use matlab, perl, and bash). My question involves plotting a Pareto frontier in three dimensions. This is strictly a exercise in visualization, I make no attempt to extract the Pareto set (aka dominating subset) first. EXAMPLE PLOTS For some example

squid transparent proxy problem
Greetings, I installed a squid 3.1.10.i686 squid to a centos 6.2i686. The proxy is working fine with the default config. After I decided to use it as a transparent proxy, I added two lines to config: http_proxy 10.0.5.1:3128 transparent, always_direct allow all http_port 10.0.5.1:3128 transparent # # Recommended minimum configuration: # acl manager proto cache_object #acl localhost src

How to Backup and Restore MBR within Logical Volumes?
Hi All, I have several Xen virtual machines within logical volumes using LVM2. I did not use disk images for performance reasons. Conventionally, if I want to clone my virtual machines, I have to dd the LV to an image file. But this consumes a lot of time and harddisk space. So, instead of doing that, I want to use losetup and kpartx with my logical volumes, which contain operating systems of
