CentOS 5.9 Xen DomU NFS Data Transfer to Dom0 kills network.
...client.
Dom0 is still accessible from outside trough virbr0 which the client
doesn't have access. The problems only come on data transfer as making
directories and removing them and doind ls works fine before one tries
to transfer data.
Anyone have suggestion what could fix this behavior.

Race condition in lightdm greeter setup
...39;m not really sure if this is the best way to handle this. Maybe it would be possible to get rid of the first "lightdm --session-child" spawning to make all this unnecessary? I could try to work on fixing this if someone who knows the code better has an opinion on this.
Happy hacking!

Problem with CentOS 5.3 Xen and Windows Server 2008 HVM DomU
...nterval" Blue Screen
when trying to run with more than one CPU
When searching around I found that official XEN distribution
(development version) has some fixes for it, but is there anything I
could do on CentOS / windows quest to get the things working with more
than one CPU.

How to control which command is executed with "plain ssh" from remote machine?
Hi!
Is it possible to override in OpenSSH so that the shell specified in the /etc/passwd (or what comes from the LDAP server) is not executed at login?
We have na?vely tried to specify this with subsystem but found out that by default the ssh client does not specify any subsystem. So how to override something that is unset from the client?

New version of Rtools for Windows
Very timely, as this is how I got into the problem I posted about
earlier; maybe some of the problems I ran into will mean more to the
you and the experts on this thread, Dr. Murdoch. For reference, I run
Windows 7 64bit, and I am trying to build a 64 bit version of R-3.1.2.
As we discussed offline, Dr. Murdoch, I've been trying to build R
using more recent tools than GCC4.6.3 prerelease.

FreeBSD DDoS protection
Hi,
I have a router running BGP and OSPF (bird) on FreeBSD.
Are there any best practises one can take in order to protect the network from DDoS attacks.
I know this isn't easy. But I would like to secure my network as much as possible.
Even if I'am not able to prevent or block a ddos I would like to get some info (snmp trap parhaps) regarding the attack.
Then I can contact my ISP or

New version of Rtools for Windows
The r.dll crash is easy - you need to be using gcc-ar for ar, and gcc-ranlib for ranlib. I also posted a patch to fix the check failure for stack probing, as lto optimizes away the stack probing code, as it should.
yes, lto build's speed gain is very impressive.

Oh, I forgot to mention that besides setting AR, RANLIB and the stack probing fix, you also need a very up to date binutils. 2.25 was out in december. Even with that , if you linker's default is not what you are compiling for (i.e. a multiarch toolchain), you need to set GNUTARGET also, i.e. -m32/-m64 is not enough. Some fix to autodetect non-default targets went in after christmas before the

squid transparent proxy problem
Greetings,
I installed a squid 3.1.10.i686 squid to a centos 6.2i686. The proxy is
working fine with the default config.
After I decided to use it as a transparent proxy, I added two lines to
config: http_proxy 10.0.5.1:3128 transparent, always_direct allow all
http_port 10.0.5.1:3128 transparent

How to Backup and Restore MBR within Logical Volumes?
Hi All,
I have several Xen virtual machines within logical volumes using LVM2. I did
not use disk images for performance reasons.
Conventionally, if I want to clone my virtual machines, I have to dd the LV
to an image file. But this consumes a lot of time and harddisk space.
So, instead of doing that, I want to use losetup and kpartx with my logical
volumes, which contain operating systems of
