Cross-subnet, multiple workgroups
...ng the remote host names in the local hosts file, in the local lmhosts file and in the hosts & lmhosts of the samba servers, all with no change. I know this is a name resolve issue but I can't figure out what I'm missing. Some ideas or possibilities would be appreciated. TIA Alex Vandenham Avantel Systems

browsing multiple workgroups on multiple subnets
Is it possible to browse multiple workgroups on two or more subnets? I have set up samba on either end of a VPN and can browse successfully from either end, but only in the workgroup that samba is configured for. Can Samba be a member of more than one workgroup at the same time? Looking in browse.dat I can see all the machines in samba's workgroup and also the other workgroups, but not the

Problem selecting installation drive : 5.2
When doing the 5.2 installation the ONLY drive option provided is mapper/nvidia_cbjcdhfe (250G) My system has 2 SATA - 250G drives and I want to use them in a RAID/LVM configuration. My question: How do I get the installer to let me use DiskDruid to create RAID1 arrays and then use LVM for the mount points? What I've done so far: I've verified that both drives are recognized by

...local PC). (4) Has anyone successfully implemented a "broadcast forwarding" solution that addresses this problem. OR, is it that every workgroup must have a samba LMB on the local LAN and a DMB somewhere on the WAN. (And samba can only be a LMB/DMB for a single workgroup) TIA Alex Vandenham Avantel Systems

Final Solution [was] Samba is a Hoax
...upgrades, my connections to Samba started to hum along quite nicely! After strugglig with this problem for over two weeks, I have developed a deep appreciation of just what the Samba team accomplished by developing a workable interface with Windows. So now I'm a fan too! Again, thanks! Alex Vandenham Avantel Systems Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Browsing workgroups on remote subnets
...X PCs do not know how to do that - is that correct?). My Question: Is there a way that I can have this third workgroup show up on the browse lists on both the local and the remote LAN? For example, can the samba server act as the domain master for more than one workgroup and if so, how? Alex Vandenham Avantel Systems Ottawa, Canada

does nmbd self sigterm ?
....1 on subnet UNICAST_SUBNET [2001/02/27 19:22:47, 0] nmbd/nmbd.c:sig_term(67) Got SIGTERM: going down... Looks like nmbd could not find the WINS server and sent itself a SIGTERM. Is that the expected behaviour?? The WINS server was unreachable at the time but I don't know for how long? Alex Vandenham

...ll files (in my case, less than about 60K) would cause no problem - everything worked fine. Larger files always created problems - and on the W95 PCs, the error messages gave no hint of the real cause - just like every other MS error message. But your problem could be different . . . .
