Maildirsize automatically (re)build
Hi,
Im testing with 1.1RC1. I read here:
http://wiki.dovecot.org/Quota/Maildir
"If you configure quota limits in Dovecot (e.g.
quota=maildir:storage=102400(kilobytes)), Dovecot makes sure that this
header is kept up to date. If the file does not exist, it's simply
rebuilt."
This is my query:
password_query = SELECT username as user,
username as userdb_user, passwd as password,

PAM libraries not found
When I add the --with-pam option in my configure command I get the

Switch from courier to dovecot
I have an courier IMAP server running. To get sib dirs working I had to
rename them all to begin with a period ".".
e.g
Maildir
Maildir/{cur,new,tmp}
Maildir/.account1/{cur,new,tmp}
Maildir/.account2/{cur,new,tmp}
Maildir/.account3/{cur,new,tmp}
etc
If I uninstall Courier and install dovecot, will these "period" dirs be
seen by default?
I am fairly new to this and

1.1 Beta 1 Works!
Wow!
I'm running 1.1 Beta 1 on OpenSuSE linux 10.2.
It seems not bad at all.
The only thing I've not quite well understood is this message,
that pops up when I start dovecot:
Warning: fd limit 1024 is lower than what Dovecot can use under full load (more than 1536). Either grow the limit or change login_max_processes_count and max_mail_processes settings
Where does dovecot take this 1024

1.1rc1: Maximum number of mail processes exceeded
I'm getting "Maximum number of mail processes exceeded" messages when
512 imap Processes are active.
Dovecot reports:
Warning: fd limit 1024 is lower than what Dovecot can use under full
load (more than 1712). Either grow the limit or change
login_max_processes_count and max_mail_processes settings
But in my /var/service/dovecot/run script I use:
#!/bin/sh
mkdir /var/core

Outlook 2003 and Thunderbird IMAP + getting new headers
Hi,
We run 1.1.3 and I use Outlook to connect to my IMAP box and a couple of
times per day (randomly) when I click certain folders IMAP will start
retrieving ALL headers for that folder again ('retrieving new headers')!
I don't understand this. What triggers IMAP to do so, why not just retrieve
only the NEW headers?
Is it Dovecot or Outlook (probably) and what can be done

password stuff
Greetings All:
I hope everyone had a fun Halloween weekend (I carved 4 big
pumpkins and gave out a bucket full of rubber eyeballs and stuff).
I'm hoping somebody can explain the password behavior I've been
seeing (and a couple of other things). Here's my setup:
An isolated LAN (most clients have modems for dialling out) with
one linux/samba machine (RedHat 4.2, kernel 2.0.30,

win95 client problems (registry limitation?)
Howdy:
I'm new to this samba stuff, but I've run across a problem that
doesn't seem to be documented anywhere.
It seems that OSR/2 clients (with all the M$ system updates; I
already added the EnableClearTextPassword key) that have had their
TCP/IP settings tweaked in the registry (eg, MaxMTU=576, TTL=32,
RWIN added, etc) for DUN connections have mucho problems with a

DNS instead of WINS
I have not found any Samba documentation explaining using
DNS for name resolution. We are running a name server on
the network which was set up for several reasons.
I find our DNS server is faster, more reliable and doesn't
generate mangled machine names like our NT WINS server,
which can't be edited. This doesn't happen with DNS since
the names are all entered statically. We have

PAM authentication failure?
Howdy:
Can anybody explain why /var/log/messages is filled with the
following?
Aug 18 09:37:53 rama PAM_pwdb[28483]: 1 authentication failure;
(uid=0) -> arnold for samba service
Aug 18 09:38:25 rama PAM_pwdb[28494]: (login) session opened for
user arnold by arnold(uid=0)
The first one happens every time I browse to rama from win95
Explorer; the second one is from a telnet login

PAM problem: "no modules loaded for 'samba' service"
I'm running FreeBSD 3.0-current and have just upgraded samba to 2.0.0.
Previously, I used unencrypted passwords. After upgrading, they didn't work
so I changed to use encrypted ones. I can now map my drives from the PC.
However, I still have a number of problems that I think are all related.
- I can't use swat. The authentication always fails. I get a message on the

simulation\bootstrap of list factors
Dear R experts,
I am trying to simulate a list containing data matrices. Unfortunately, I don't manage to get it to work.
A small example:
n=5
nbootstrap=2
subsets<-list()
for (i in 1:n){
subsets[[i]] <- rnorm(5, mean=80, sd=1)
for (j in 1:nbootstrap){
test<-list()
test[[j]]<-subsets[[i]]
}
}
How can I get test to be 2 simulation rounds with
