error message with stats package fx cor R aqua v1.14
Hello,
Sorry if this is somewhere in the archives but i couldn't find it. I
am using the funtion cor() and inputting a large matrix with a column
of 0, for which i get NA's for. I'm looking for a way to overcome
that divide by 0 error btw but my real issue is this:
I specify the method as pearson but the error messages always say kendall

How to make legend with line+ character
Dear all,
I have a multiline plot with each line labeled with a different letter.
But I'm not able to make the legend display the same kind of pattern
'-a-', instead the letter is overwritten by the line. A simpler legend
with only the letter is not very visible and the pt.bg does nothing with
letters. Any idea?

Closest value
Hello,
I have this command:
x.axis <- seq(from=0.5, to=4.5, length.out=13112)
How can I which of the x.axis components is the closest to a given
value, for example 3.2?

Cutting a vector
Hello,
I have a vector, lets say
x <- 1:50
I would like it to be cut at certain points, being for example 1:5,
6:11, 12:17, ...
How can I do it? I have tried the cut() function, but I don not know how
to place the cutting points properly.
Best regards,

3d from file
Dear all,
sorry if it's obvious but I wasn't able to find a solution by myself.
I have a text file filled with 3 colums representing xyz coodinates
(i.e. positions) of an objects.
Can I have in R a 3d plot representig my object' s positions?
I guess that I can but I don't know how.
Any help is much appreciated
Thanks a lot

scatterplot3d: fractionary xrange
Dear all,
I'm plotting this and I need x range = (-2.5, 2.5).
require(scatterplot3d)
scatterplot3d(1,1,1, pch=19, xlim=c(-2.5, 2.5), zlim=c(0,2),
ylim=c(0,3), xaxs="i", yaxs="i")
In any case, it seems that in the drawing range for x is (-3,3).
I guessed I could have this kind of behaviour for ranges:
plot(1,1, pch=19, xlim=c(-2.5, 2.5), ylim=c(0,3),

optim: abnormal termination in lnsrch (resend)
[sorry, forgot some details...]
I'm using optim(param, fun, method='L-BFGS-B', lower=lo, upper=up) to
minimize a certain function.
Often the minimization ends with the message:
ERROR: ABNORMAL_TERMINATION_IN_LNSRCH
What is optim() trying to say?
What have I to change in my function to make the minimization succeed?
Do you think using BBoptim() instead of optim() changes anything?

Dear all:
I'm trying to fit the optimal Box-Cox
transformation related to nls (see the code

Win upgrade pb (virus)
I just upgraded my Win7 32bits installation to 2.14.0 after deinstalling
2.12.x
First thing I moved the win-library from 2.12 to 2.14 and executed a
update.packages(ask='graphics',checkBuilt=TRUE)
(Swiss mirror).
This aborts with the console message:
Error in if (any(diff)) { : missing value where TRUE/FALSE needed
And the antivirus (AVG) pops up complaining that colorspace.dll

adding lines to scatterplot3d
Hi to all,
I usually use R for simple 2D graphs so now I cannot solve the
following problem (which I suppose very simple too).
I'm using scatterplot3d. I want to add dotted lines parallel to the 3
axes, in order to create a sort of cage in the 3D box (so to represent
subdomains in my dataspace).
I saw that points3d can be used to draw points or lines to the existing
plot but actually

Interpolation between 2 vectors
Hello,
I have two vectors, one with 13112 points and the other one with 10909.
I wonder if there is a way to interpolate the data so the shorter
vectors has the same number of points as the longer one.

LDA and centroids
Hello,
I have carried out an lda analysis using the lda function of MASS
package. I have plotted the LD1xLD2 to represent the data. Now I would
like to get the centroids for each group of data and plot it on the
LD1xLD2 graph. How can I get the centroid value from the lda object?

lsmeans
Hello,
I have the next function call:
lme(fixed=Error ~ Temperature * Tumour ,random = ~1|ID, data=error_DB)
which returns an lme object. I am interested on carrying out some kind
of lsmeans on the data returned, but I cannot find any function to do
this in R. I'have seen the effect() function, but it does not work with
lme objects. Any idea?
