Meta-question: anonymity makes me cranky
Fellow mongrelians,
forgive a slightly off-topic rant; my hope is that it can lead to a better
world.
In the past few months, I have seen an increase in "anonymous" questions on
this list, "anonymous" in the sense that the sender names do not resemble
real human names, and also in the sense that the messages have not been
signed. Just today, we have seen "Geek Moth

Mongrel hangs, consumes all CPU on shutdown
Hi,
I''m doing development with Mongrel 1.0.1 on Ruby 1.8.4 / OS X
10.4.10, and I''ve found that often when I shut down my server with
^C, it hangs for a while, gobbling up all CPU. Sometimes it stops
after a few seconds, sometimes it''s run for several minutes at least.
This happens across all the apps I develop on, but it seems to hang
longer after

mongrel in production not using AR Sessions
Hello,
For some reason when i change the "environments" line in
mongrel_cluster.yml to use production, ActiveRecord Sessions stop working.
Changing this line to development yield the correct result. Entries in
database.yml are correct, and confirmed that the sessions table exists in
both environments and that production is indeed working
(production.logbeing filled up).
Any idea why

Modifying Apache Conf To Block Leachers
Howdy,
I''m using Apache 2.2 + Mongrel with great success, using the sample
configs from the Mongrel site.
We have some MP3s on the site and recently someone has been stealing
them and basically leaching them from the site, linking to them from
an off-site location.
I''ve been trying to modify my Apache conf to check the referrer and
adjust accordingly as below but no

403 FORBIDDEN Help!
Hello,
I have a question.
I set up an extension to 1234
exten => 1234,1,Dial(SIP/1234@sip.greentone.com:5060)
And when I dial that extension I got in SIP message "403 FORBIDDEN"
Can somebody tell me why I cannot call that extension? When I am not using Asterisk I can call that extension without any problems.
My SIP proxy is VOCAL.
I am new here so I do not know a lot yet.
Thank

Segmentation fault in Mongrel when run with --debug
I am having a problem with mongrel just stopping inside a
periodically_call_remote function so I ran mongrel with debug enabled
Mongrel seg faults after a few minutes
The mongrel filelog shows 5 files open when this happens. Same log files
that are open all the time.

...it that need to be tested on all unix
platforms. Please run --clean and cluster::status on every *nix you can
find. I run linux so the rest are up to you.
Thanks to the following for patches, bug reports, and suggestions:
Corey Donahue, Matt Trott, Donnie Jones, Matte Edens, Joey Geiger,
Nathan Vack, and others.
New Features:
* The cluster::start, stop and restart commands now support --clean. On
start, any orphaned pid_files will be removed and any missing members

sendfile and mongrel
forgive me if this has been resolved already...
I have an app that is using sendfile to return large files to customers.
We can''t use regular Apache to handle this static content since the
files are what the customers are paying for - so it wouldn''t be cool for
anyone else to get access to them.
The issue is that the mongrel mem footprint gets bloated when the files

mongrel, monit, and the many, many messages
Monit 4.9, Mongrel 1.0.1, Rails 1.2.6, Mac OS X 10.4.11 (PPC)
I don''t know whether this is a mongrel issue or a monit issue.
I''m trying to poke my way around a system set up by someone else. I have
no more experience w/ mongrel that local Rails dev at this point, and a
conceptual understanding of how monit is working. I have the Deploying
Rails beta book, and I''m

FastCGI performing better than Mongrel - what am I doing wrong?
I tried benchmarking the same site behind an NGINX proxy with both
fastcgi and mongrel, and for some reason mongrel is performing pretty
poorly in comparison.
Any idea what I might be doing wrong?
Here''s my benchmarks for 1 fcgi:
Server Software: nginx/0.4.0
Server Hostname: eship.com.br
Server Port: 80
Document Path: /
Document Length: 95
