arsenal v3.0.0: An Arsenal of 'R' Functions for Large-Scale Statistical Summaries
I'm pleased to announce the release of the "arsenal" package v3.0.0 on CRAN (https://cran.r-project.org/package=arsenal)!
"arsenal" has experienced some major growth in the last few months, starting with the release of v2.0.0 in January. We tried to maintain backwards compatibility wherever possible, but had to eliminate it in some places. With that said, here's the

v3.0.0, AD, 2k3 mumbles
I'm running a Samba 3.0.0 server in production in security = ADS mode
against a W2k ADS server. Works just fine, thanks!
We're sort of under pressure to regrade to a 2003 AD server, which sent
me trying stuff out a bit. Meager results. The 3.0.0 I have (linked
with MIT krb5-1.2.8) refuses to verify incoming tickets:

RFC3389 messages with ATA 186
I'm getting some warnings:
NOTICE[xxx]: File rtp.c, Line 264 (process_rfc3389): RFC3389 support
incomplete. Turn off on client if possible
Asterisk Version: CVS-01/06/04-13:50:26
Cisco ATA 186 version: v3.0.0 atasip (Build 031210A)
Is this something I should be concerned about? Anyone know how to "turn
off" the RFC3389 support on the ata 186?
Thanks!

[Announce] Web-MeetMe 3.0.0 released
We've been holding back on this release to coincide with
the Asterisk 1.4.0 release.
This is mostly a compatibility release, but there are a
few new features:
* No longer requires register_globals in PHP
* Separated code from configuration settings in
./lib/defines.php (hopefully this will make
future upgrades easier)
* Migrated all database interfaces to PEAR::DB

Mac OS/X and Rails 3 ?
Hello List,
Label me a newb, but how do you install Rails 3 on your Mac?
Google sent me to these URLs:
http://weblog.rubyonrails.org/2010/2/5/rails-3-0-beta-release/
http://guides.rails.info/3_0_release_notes.html
http://asciicasts.com/episodes/200-rails-3-beta-and-rvm
From early Feb 2010 I see this short recipe:
gem install tzinfo builder memcache-client rack rack-test rack-mount

Upgrading from V3.0 production system to V3.3
Before I undertake this upgrade I thought I would see if anyone has any advice
on how to do this on a production system. Maybe someone has already "fought
this dragon".
Current config Gluster V3.0.0. This has been in production for over 16 months:
2 servers with 8 x 2TB hard drives (bricks) replicated

Rails 3, Validates, Custom Message
In Rails < 3, I could have a validation on model such as:
validates_presence_of :name, :message => "some custom message here"
If I try something similar in Rails 3:
validates :name, :presence => true , :message => "some other custom
message"
obviously, it throws an exception. So the question is, in Rails 3, how
to you give a simple custom message? Do I need to

Password problems
Hello,
I have a Samba/LDAP problem. I' using Samba v3.0.0 with LDAP backend
OpenLDAP v2.1.30.
I have 4 PDC and several BDCs in different buildings. Each of these has a
copy of the LDAP directory that I am replicating from a master LDAP
server. The problem I ran into is that the LDAP master is not on the PDC
it is on a standalone server that I also use for Cyrus IMAP authentication

Optimising the Rsync algorithm for speed by reverting to MD4 hashing
Hi,
From v3.0.0 onwards the hash function implemented by Rsync was changed from MD4 to MD5 (http://rsync.samba.org/ftp/rsync/src/rsync-3.0.0-NEWS). My understanding is that MD5 is a more secure, slower version of MD4 but I am not convinced that the added security of MD5 would alone have merited the change from MD4 (particularly since MD4 is ~30% faster than MD5). I wonder if I am missing other

FYI: virtio-pci will be the default with libvirt 3.0.0, aarch64 & -M virt
(Thanks to Andrea Bolognani for bringing this to my attention)
from https://libvirt.org/news.html:
* v3.0.0 (unreleased)
- qemu: Use virtio-pci by default for aarch64 mach-virt guests
- virtio-pci provides several advantages over virtio-mmio, such as
the ability to hotplug devices and improved performance. While
opting in to virtio-pci has been possible for a while,
