Hi
My dovecot started with the error below. What's the most possible reason

Logon time restrictions?
Hiya all!
I've browsed to lots of doc. Files, but I can't find a good answer. Is it
possible to set logon time restrictions to users when Samba operates as a
PDC, controlling Windows XP Pro clients?
We're in the need to have different time restrictions based on user groups
as well as individual users.
Currently we run Samba v2.2.5, but will upgrade if needed.

SMTP Proxy
Hi,
I have found a message on this mailing list dated August/2012 in
which is said that dovecot could not (at least at that time) do SMTP
Authentication using Proxy Features.
http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2012-August/067998.html
is this still true, given i'm using latest stable dovecot, v2.2.5 ?

Logging pre-rewrite user ID for application-specific passwords
I have set up Dovecot v2.2.5 with application-specific passwords, along the lines of this blog post (http://www.dgsiegel.net/news/2013_05_21-application_specific_passwords_for_dovecot).
My users file looks like:
user-foo:{BLF-CRYPT}$2...:42:42::/home/user::allow_nets=127.0.0.1/32 user=user
user-bar:{BLF-CRYPT}$2...:42:42::/home/user::user=user

http://dovecot.org/releases/2.2/dovecot-2.2.6.tar.gz
http://dovecot.org/releases/2.2/dovecot-2.2.6.tar.gz.sig
I didn't have time to look into the latest reported dsync replication bugs, but this release should have been done a long time ago already and I'm busy for next few days, so no more waiting. Things seem to be working quite well in general though.

Strange behaviour on Win98
I am currently trying to integrate a Samba v2.2.5 server into an NT domain.
I have already succeeded to join the server into the domain and have
authentication working (security = DOMAIN), but when I'm trying to
access it from a Win98 client, it sometimes says "network name not
found", although the server is visible in the "network neighbourhood".
Then, after waiting a

Documentation / boolean fix for oplocks = command
In the documentation the "oplocks = yes" option is give in an example, as
the default for this parameter. However, I needed to turn oplocks off, and
so assumed that the command "oplocks = no" would work. It doesn't, instead I
found that "oplocks = false" does. There needs to be some boolean fixing
done, or at least documentation should reflect this strangeness.

Simple recipe for getting started with 4.2.0
Hello.
I've been continuously using samba for personal computing for >10 years,
starting way back with version 2.2.5 installed on 23 Jan 02003. Thank
you so much to the samba team for making such stable and reliable
software that I was able to configure it and then leave it almost
completely untouched for 12 years and it worked like a charm for all
that time. Fabulous software.
But now

SAMBA slower than MARSNWE...
I actually find Samba a very kewl server app so the subject isn't coming from
someone that has a preference for Netware over samba. My issue is actually
two-fold, one being the record locking problems in Samba and the other being
the slowness of dos apps in samba.
I'm not going to post any log messages here as I don't feel that for this post
they're really very relevant.

connections always mapped to guest
I have setup Samba 2.2.4 on HPUX 11.0. I'm using it only as a print server.
It appears that ALL connections are being mapped to "pcguest" regardless
whether they are valid or not. I do not have a "username map" defined,
"guest ok = yes" is set for my printer share. I am running winbindd, which
seems to be working correctly. I ran the following command 5 times,

Persistent locked files & Win95
I often find with Samba v2.0.3 that files accessed via Win95 (OSR2) stay
locked forever after exiting the application that used them.
I've got an application called Visual SlickEdit (VSE), which is installed
on a shared drive. The drive is an exported Samba share from my RedHat
v5.2 (kernel v2.2.5) server. Both the Win32 and OS/2 versions of VSE are
installed beneath the same subdirectory

local/domain master browser
I hope this isn't too confusing, but I'm confused so...
We have four boxes on our network (at least that I'm primarily concerned
with). A Samba v2.2.5 PDC (linuxts1), one windows 98 workstation
(kmorris), and two Samba workstations (jvan v2.2.3a & mrambo v.2.2.2).
We're having browse problems on the network. The server is set up to be
a domain & local master, the wins

Printer Issue with Access XP
Good afternoon,
We are experiencing a strange problem using Microsoft Access XP on
Windows XP to create a report when the default printer is set to a
network Samba Printer with drivers stored on the print$ share of the
print server.
We are experiencing errors from Access XP running on Windows XP
indicating 'The wizard is unable to create your report' or, when
attempting to use Design

Enforcing file access with ACL?
I'm running Samba v2.2.5 with ACL support for xfs from SGI
on modified Redhat Linux 6.2 running Linux kernel 2.4.19
with xfs filesystem support. Samba is running in domain
mode and my PDC is an NT 4.0 SP6 server. I'm using a
Win2K Professional (a member of the domain) to test things
out.
I have no problem setting ACL to a file from the Win2K PC.
For example, I allow only Read (RX)

What is "client failure in oplock break"?
Below are a number of errors that appeared in a log file today.
I am running Samba v2.2.5 on a Red Hat Linux v7.3 system. The client
experiencing/causing the errors below is a WinXP(SP1) machine.
The log entries below pertain to 2 errors, the first in handling file
"6.zip" and the second in attempting to run file
"DiskeeperWks413zssi.exe". I didn't see the first
