Latest version of R from CRAN for utopic (14.10)
Hi,
I am not in a hurry, but I would like to upgrade my ubuntu to utopic.
However, for now, the latest version of R that can be installed from CRAN
mirrors is not available for utopic.
Indeed, I am not sure I understand this sentence :
> UBUNTU PACKAGES FOR R
> R packages for Ubuntu on i386 and amd64 are available for all stable

Up until now, in Puppy and all offshoots, we have used syslinux 4.05 or older.
Over the last few days I have been testing 6.03 (using the binary DEBs
from Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn), and it works, except that the LSS
boot image does not display.
Everything is as we have been doing it for years. There is a
syslinux.cfg, a boot message in file boot.msg and a LSS image boot.16
It is extremely simple, works fine with 4.05, no image in 6.03.

PHP bindings Debian/Ubuntu packaging wiki page does not mention ~
Hi,
On http://trac.xapian.org/wiki/FAQ/PHP%20Bindings%20Package, it doesn't
say where the commands should be executed.
For some reason, if a user executes them from /tmp/ on Ubuntu trusty, the
following error message is returned and prevents the packaging to work (at
the env ... debian/rules line):
env: debian/rules: Permission denied
However, executed from the home directory (or one of its

howto upgrade from samba-4.1.6-ubuntu to 4.1.12
Hi,
I just upgraded in Ubuntu from the ubuntu-package samba 4.1.6 do a
self-compiled version 4.1.12. If anybody else happens to have the same
task (pdc, not ad), this is how it worked:
# do all following as root
sudo su -
# remove ubuntu samba 4.1.6
aptitude remove samba
# install samba 4.1.12 from source
aptitude install build-essential libacl1-dev libattr1-dev \

...2:00.0 and 02:00.1 are both in iommu group 18, but one of them isn't
bound to vfio-pci, qemu will give "some kind of error" when it tries to
assign any other device in the group.
2) your example qemu commandline uses the q35 machinetype, but your
example libvirt domain uses pc-i440fx-utopic machinetype, so the bus
structure is completely different. Assuming a recent enough libvirt, you
should be able to create a virtual machine based on q35 and attach the
devices to pcie-root (bus 0). You wouldn't be able to add an ioh3420
controller in unless you are running libvirt built from...

[Bug 84203] New: HDMI gives no more signal
...0x0088: 0x00000000
etc.
After some git bisect playtime, I found out the following commit caused the
issue:
https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau?id=05c63c2ff23a80b654d6c088ac3ba21628db0173
So I went back to stable 3.16 (Ubuntu Utopic version), and did a git revert for
that commit.
And yep, HDMI output was working again, and no more nouveau errors in dmesg.
My device:

LibVirt + QEMU & no-shutdown
I am currently running LibVirt with Qemu on Debian Wheezy:
Versions:
- libvirtd (libvirt) 1.2.4
- qemu-x86_64 version 2.0.0 (Debian 2.0.0+dfsg-4~bpo70+1), Copyright (c)
2003-2008 Fabrice Bellard
It's all working perfectly, including ACPI: virsh shutdown guest. However
when I issue "halt" from the guest, the guest stops but libvirt thinks it
is still running: (virsh list

Using C++14 code in LLVM
I haven't been following C++14 closely, but from hallway conversations at work it seems like 17 is the bigger win in terms of features.
Is it worth waiting for 17 instead? Or, as we will only get a subset of 14 features anyway, just instead take a subset of 17 features?
My only worry with 14 is that it's always going to be code churn in terms of using the new features. If they are worth

Tinc Network Spikes
Hi,
?
I've recently moved from OpenVPN to Tinc for the mesh setup. Everything works nicely except for some looping packet issues.
?
I have 12 servers around the United States, including a couple of moving clients. Every now and then the network is flooded with what I assume is looping packets. 200-300MB of bandwidth per node over 10-45 minutes (normally < 20 KB/s, idle). Most if not all

So the system hangs after I login, and I can't ssh to the box.
I am on Ubuntu utopic.

This is issue happened also on ubuntu trusty, and probably on saucy as well.
