"valid userse = @anyGroup" breaks samba
Hello, first of all, thanks to everyone who has responded to my questions lately. All pointers are as always much appreciated. That said, I have now narrowed down (and solved, sort of) the problem with the mysterious "freeze effect"[1] I've been posting about. problem with ldap backend
...? readonly = yes ? ? ? ? browseable = yes ? ? ? ? valid users = @cad ? ? ? ? write list = @cad ? ? ? ? force group = cad ? ? ? ? create mask = 0664 ? ? ? ? directory mask = 0775 But this isn't working. no user of the group cad can read this share. Moreover, it seems that "some" other userser which are not in the cad group can read this share, but i wasn't able to reproduce this truly. Seems to be some random generator behind :-) I really have no idea whats going wrong. Could this be a bug of samba? Anybody an idea? cu cornelius -- http://von-und-zu-weiss.de Phone: +49 2773...

reseting password and policy; /etc/passwd; /var/lib/samba/
...lng list till now: 1) is there a way to get some password changing tool (smbpasswd, ldappasswd, smbldap-passwd, etc.) obey account policy, which I set using pdbedit (and works fine when I try to change password from Windows, but not using those utilities) without knowing old password? I need reset userses passwords. Here is, how those tools work for me: smbpasswd - obeys account policy when run as non root, but I need to know old password; as root it bypasses smbd afaik, so no policy (?)... ldappasswd -x -S -W -D "admin dn" "user dn" - does not change sambaNTPassword (creates/...
