Okay here is what i think i need to do but have no idea on how to:
Well the samba server is up there and running. So i guess what is going
wrong is that the username

SAMBA to poll the NT PDC

valid-users still not work in 3.0.23a
Hello,
i was using the debian version of samba 3.0.14a. Everything works fine. Then I upgraded to 3.0.23 because of Windows Visa support. After that upgrade shares with "valid users" could not be accessed. So I waited for 3.0.23a and upgraded to this version. The problem still exists. The following message is in the log: User andi not in 'valid users'.

Question about AD user/ACL mapping
We have updated our long-standing Samba install on a Solaris 8 box to
3.0.24 and are interested in making use of the Windows ACL mapping
capabilities to help take over a Windows share. However, there is a
snag - the pre-existing box has usernames that differ from people's
Windows logins, i.e. their Unix login is freddy, and their Windows
login is fred_smith.
I have our AD domain membership

Winbind IDMAP question.
...rid but it seems that uses a
predefined pool of UID's.
However from what I am reading it seems that idmap_ldap can be used to
accomplish this. Am I wrong about that? . Can Samba and Winbind
accomplish this?
2nd question is in regards to ADS, can I use a local UID to RID map
somewhat similar to usernamemap for smbpasswd backend?
Also if possible any how to or links are appreciated.
Thank you for your time.
James

Dear all,
trying to build some Heimdal-based packages for Samba AD DC under
openSUSE I am facing some difficulties with the build system:
During the installation which is triggered by "make install" waf complains
about some task dependency cycle after leaving folder bin/default.
Full log including config options can be seen unter https://build.opensuse.org/

Can not add users to samba 3.0
Hello, I can not seem to get smbpsswd to add any users to samba. No
matter if I use the CLI, the Webmin module or SWAT I always get this
response when trying to add any user

Failed to modify password entry for user gerard$
I take it this has somehting to do with PAM & or shadow passwords, & I
