auth. username rewriting?
Hello,
Now, I'm faced with a problem: I need to be able to login using the same
username that I bind against using ldapsearch, and not the
sAMAccountName given to me via winbind.
ie. to login using one of my AD usernames right now, I issue:
su - ADSDOMAIN+username1
but the binddn I use to search the ldap directory is, say, username2:
ldapsearch -x -W -D"username2" samaccountname=bla
I'd like to be able to do:
su - ADSDOMAIN+username2
and for winbind to recognize username1 and username2 as the same user
account, and authenticate over...

I have a very large table that I want to add some of the certain rows.
The table is as follows:
Username1 2
Username1 4
Username2 6
Username2 10
Username3 12
Username3 10
Username3 16
Etc ....
The data is sorted by Column 1 (Ie the username) then by columm 2 (The
numbers).
I want to combine the rows so it would be as follows:
Username1 6
Username2 16
Username3 38
Is there easy way using a feature...

dbcheck reporting errors
Hi all,
Our domain is running perfectly, but for the fun of it, I tried a
samba-tool dbcheck, and (unexpected actually!) it returned many errors,
on many users, like this:
> ERROR: wrongly formatted userParameters on CN=username1,CN=Users,DC=samba,DC=company,DC=com, should not be psudo-UTF8 encoded
> Not changing userParameters from UTF8 encoding on CN=username1,CN=Users,DC=samba,DC=company,DC=com
(yes: it says "psudo-UTF8")
This is Version 4.2.5-SerNet-Debian-8.wheezy (upgraded from 4.1.17) in
an AD config....

Herein lies the problem. I need to register about six incoming lines

I have sucessfully registered all the lines within sip.conf as follows:

and then I created a peer and a user for the sip.gossiptel.com domain,

...and doing so changes the
lmPassword and ntPassword fields in ldap.
On the fileserver, the basic auth. configuration is:
security = domain
password server = fqdn.of.password.server
encrypt passwords = yes
What am I doing wrong here? Why isn't the samba 2.2.8a fileserver
seeing that username1 is DOMAIN\username1, not FILESERVER\username1?
One additional thing is that when using rpcclient on the fileserver and
running the querydominfo command I get:
rpcclient $> querydominfo
result was NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
rpcclient $>

I would like to deny users access to the pdc based on the hostname.
so if username1 logs into computer1, that is allowed, if the user logs of,
and goes on to computer2, it will be denied because computer2 is a staff
machine
we have students that will sometimes try to use staff machines and i want
the login to fail.
i have lots of log entries that look like.
