Doubt regarding priority of classes with HTB
Hi, I''m a bit confused with the priority of different classes with HTB. How it will be? Will the class with lowest no: have maximum priority? Any help is most appreciated, Thanks in advance, Sanjeev -- ______________________________________________ Check out the latest SMS services @ http://www.linuxmail.org This allows you to send and receive SMS through your mailbox. how hierarchical is HTB?
Hi there! I''ve using HTB for a while and now I an faced with a ''problem''. How hierarchical is HTB? Let''s say I have this 3 layer HTB setup: root class 1: (rate=100, ceil=100) 1: children classes 1:10 (30,100) and 1:20 (70,100) 1:10 children classes 1:100 (10,100) and 1:101 (20,100) 1:20 children classes 1:200 (30,100) and 1:201 (70,100) I managed to have

About "b" meaning "byte" and bit
Hi all :) I think that this issue has already been discussed on this list, but google didn''t find anything interesting, so I''m bringing the subject again. The output of "tc" uses "b" meaning "byte" and "bit" for "bit". The "official" suffixes for those units are "B" and "b", respectively,

cbq vs htb?
Hello, Does anyone know when one should use cbq versus (simpler more accurate) htb? Specifically does cbq have added functionality that may be of interest to certain applications? from htb home> Both CBQ and HTB help you to control the use of the outbound bandwidth on a given link. Both allow you to use one physical link to simulate several slower links and to send different kinds of

HTB: 3. Sharing hierarchy
On http://luxik.cdi.cz/~devik/qos/htb/manual/userg.htm... There is a nice explanation on how/why to setup a hierarchy with HTB. Howerver what is missing is how to setup finters for this case? I had this working when I was using a seperat qdisc for each ?layer?, making each HTB only one level deep. Described in the attached qdisc.sh.GOOD. Described in the attached qdisc.sh is my current script,

newbie - shaping a PSTN connection
Hi - I''ve been going through the LARTC how-to and have successfully used the sample scripts (and wondershaper) with my xDSL links. I''m now faced with the challenge of providing 8 users at work an effective remote access connection over a PSTN ppp connection. The critical traffic in this case relates to our stock enquiry application which is running over terminal services.

infinite amount of data for HTB burst
Dear all, I''d like to ask for help with HTB configuration (after having read some manual pages, FAQs and forum posts). Short version: is there a way to specify infinite burst for HTB? (Infinite amount of data to use the "ceil" rate.) Long version: I have the following small topology: cable modem (uplink to ISB) | <ethernet>

Excess Bandwidth
Hi, I''m trying to configure QoS on my linux in the following manner: I have a main link with 64K, so I divided it in 3 classes of 18K, 14K and 9K with an excess (not used for classified traffic, just to be shared) of 23K. This excess should be distributed proportonally among the 3 classes, that is, the class that has more rate should borrow more bandwidth. What is happening is

HTB & Bdw Guarantee
Hello, I have problems setting up HTB. This is my setup : NET 1024/256 ADSL || eth1 Linux Firewall eth0 || LAN 10.a.a.a I want to GUARANTEE for an IP (10.x.y.z) a 800kbit bandwidth for HTTP download. But When 10.x.y.z does no HTTP download, other trafic must get the whole bandwidth, of course. The script I use (see below) is quite the same as presented at (the greeeeat page) :

HTB - not borrowing, not exceeding rate
Hello! I have a quite complicated setup. In my network on each interface there is bandwidth limitation for each user. Booth outgoing (on interface itself) and incoming (attached IMQ) traffic. There is main HTB class which limits bandwidth for whole interface and HTB subclasses for each user. Filtering is done with hashing filters. This setup was working correctly. But now in the network I

HTB does not respect the prio parameter
Hi all, I''m experimenting with HTB and the prio parameter and it does not give me results I expect. I''ve created 4 HTB classes: 1:10 TCP ACKs (prio 0) 1:20 TCP traffic on dst port 10001 (prio 1) 1:30 TCP traffic on dst port 10000 (prio 2) 1:40 Default (prio 3) ceil and rate parameters are the same for all 4 classes (rate is

marking passive ftp and shaping
I am trying to mark outbound passive ftp traffic with iptables and shape it to 35KBytes. I am using the following script on the computer that runs the ftp server. It is not working correctly, it seems to limit ALL traffic. Cant file share or anything. Anyone might know what is wrong? #!/bin/bash #shaping passive ftp traffic # mark the outbound passive ftp packets on ports 50000-51000

wondershaper htb + multiple ports
Is there a way to apply wondershaper w/ htb to a port range? I have a ftp server on port 65432 and passive ports 50000-60000. Is there a way to set a range? or do they have to be individually listed? The following doesnt seem to work: # low priority source ports NOPRIOPORTSRC=65432, 50000:60000 # low priority destination ports NOPRIOPORTDST= Mark
