[Announce] Samba 4.9.0rc1 Available for Download
Great news!!!
I just didn't see anything in the changelog referring to "trust
relationship," based on what the papper below show.

Just a guess:
3.2 needs much less resources, that the current versions do. E. g. smbd
in 3.2 was just about 1/4 of the size it is in 4.1. Many parts can't be
disabled with ./configure options and are build in. Kai Blin had a good
talk about this last year:

slanted stacked bar graphs?
Hello R users,
I would like to generate "slanted" stacked bar graphs like those on
the bottom of pages 1 and 2 in this document:
http://www.wssinfo.org/fileadmin/user_upload/resources/JMP-Snapshot-SWA-HLM.pdf
. I've also attached the file to this email (pdf). Does anyone know if
this is possible in R? I have tried googling and searching the R help
archives, and it seems like ggplot2 might be able to make such graphs,
but I'm not familiar enough with graphics in...

design question for small environment
Ah, ok.
Maybe you can do something with the static id mappings on the server.
Map a computer to user
But besides that, uhm, good luck...
Stick with the login popup, and save yourself a lot of troubles.
Maybe this wil give you a good hint,

Imo, a hard one to solve.

I took a look at the slide deck presented at SambaXP 2019 (

requirement for ADFS, to enable a user friendly self registration process.
However, for smaller environments, with a very low volume of new users

Samba vs Windows - File sharing in a domain setting
...if this setup can use the windows indexing, i havent looked in to that.
I dont use windows indexer.
But i do know if you setup as shown and you add a webpage to the server,
that makes is also usable for Windows users to search.
There was some work done in the area

And one that looks promising is also this one.

mapping. So, Director decides which backend handles each user and the user
is always redirected to the same server. All user data is stored in shared

The Dovecot presentation featured during this webinar

Why Dovecot Director server isn't used to perform this without Dovecot
proxy ? Thus, the load balancer (F...

ps aux | grep smbd
I recently compiled samba-3.2.15 for a Raspberry Pi V2 and while it seems
to be working fine, when I ps aux | grep smbd I'm shown two or three
successively numbered smbd jobs. The smbd log isn't showing anything weird,
what's up with this?

Well, I can see what you mean, but why bother, a raspberry pi will
function quite capably as a home DC (never mind as just a fileserver)

unable to upload printer driver
Hello Franz,
Out of curisoity I tried to install the old Kyocera Universal drivers we
use since a few years on an other samba server (4.6.5).
Found the old version here
https://www.rz.uni-osnabrueck.de/fileadmin/user_upload/Campuscard/Drucken/Treiber/win8/KyoceraClassicUniversalDriversCertified130315.zip.
It also fails now and the OEMSETUP.INF file also contains an
PrinterPackageInstallation.x86/amd64 section.
Once i remove these sections the drivers can be installed but are
treated as unsigned.
These drivers could...

I won't get a third server for doing so. It could be a VM or container,
though.
For now we discussed simply editing the

Samba vs Windows - File sharing in a domain setting
I've been working with Samba in an AD domain setting for several years now.
Small potatoes, nothing fancy. A few months ago, I came across the
limitation of Samba, in comparison to file sharing from a Windows server,
that, at the current moment, it doesn't offer an indexing service that is
compatible with Windows Search. So, no matter how much I like Samba, if I
need this feature, I have
