Incorrect Example in Samba User Management Documentation
Hi Samba documentation admins, one of the the examples given on this page https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/User_and_Group_management is incorrect and probably should be updated. The snippet of code in question: $ samba-tool user add fbaggins    --random-password --use-username-as-cn    --surname="Baggins" --given-name="Frodo"    --initials=S --mail-address=fbaggins at SAM.DOMAIN.LOCAL.    --company="H...

Group issues on AD DC, membership does not work on some users
Thank you so much for the prompt response and the valuable comments. We are using a pretty much unmodified Zentyal installation, which in its own turn sets everything up for a Samba DC. It might be a good idea for us to move away from that, if Zentyal uses an EOL-version of Samba.. You were absolutely right about the sign-in part! Almost all of us work from home in these special days, so

idmap backend ad well-known-sids 512 & 513
Hi, we are in the process of testing a migration from our NT Classic Domain with OpenLdap to Samba AD. In our test setup migration of all accounts, groups and computer accounts went well using the classicupgrade path. Next step now is testing how to add a member server for file server services. We were able to get the server to join the domain and also idmapping works mostly as expected.

Admin UID changed with upgrade to 4.8.2
...correct, > sam.ldb is correct, ADUC is correct, > yet still getting only UID on 'ls' for > BUILTIN\administrators. I'm Stumped! You see the GID here not UID. The UID of BUILTIN\administrators is 300000? Which is a type: ID_TYPE_BOTH https://wiki.samba.org/index.php?title=User_and_Group_management But linux can not show the group as user, windows can. > > Is there anything else to check/try? > > [acl_xattr stuff deleted] > > --Mark > > > -- > To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the > instructions: https://lists.samba.org/...
