Not sure, did they actually rename ?
I take it you tried with just one for a start
I have just tried it myself and it works for me:

Rename Samba 4 Users
Hi guys!
Do you know if there is a away to rename a list of samba 4 user accounts ?
I need to change a list of 2000 users from "login name" to a "login number"
i would not like to do this one by one.
I know that in windows server i can do using powershell script, but it
doesn´t work with samba.
If you have any ideia on how to do this i appreciate.
Thanks!!

winbind: homeDirectory being ignored
Something strange here. User created using:
root at dc1:~# samba-tool user add user7 Abcd1234 --uid-number=1007
--home-directory=/home/user7 --login-shell=/bin/bash
User 'user7' created successfully
I can see the homeDirectory attribute in the entry. But the home
directory that winbind returns is just the template one:
root at adclient:~# getent passwd user7

Dovecot rc23 and rc24 freeze after authentication
I had our production systems running on rc23, however we ran into
problems when the server was under heavy load. Eventually, the
server would begin to freeze all imap connection after authentication
(according to the logs). A user would connect, authentication would
succeed, and then the connection would sit until timing out. No
error logs were produced. Upgrading to rc24 did not

Rowland,
That did it! Thank you so much. I do have a question regarding the
'getent' command before setting up file shares. When I run 'getent group
Domain\ Users' I get
domain_users:x:10000:user1,user2,user3,user4,user5,user6,user7,user8
Why does it show these specific users? I would assume it would only show
my 'tuser'. I don't have uid's set for anyone else.

Hi,
no, that's my fault. I changed the UIDs and user names in my "ls -l" to
unpersonalized/example data for my mail and didn't think about putting
these values into the range. A better unpersonalized data example would
look like:
----------
drwx------ 43 DOM\user1 DOM\group 4096 Jan 10 08:00 user1
drwx------ 5 DOM\user2 DOM\group 4096 Jan 11 08:13 user2
