Samba4 changing a user's password from linux workstation
Hello Rowland,
We’ve been using SSSD with Acitve Directory for a few years now… It’s been solid for us.
Our Linux clients use the AD-Kerberos via SSSD for secure NFS4 mounts with POSIX attributes defined in AD (uidNumber, gidNumber, unixHomeDirectory, loginShell).
Before putting into production, I tested using Winbind and could not get it to do what I wanted. If I remember correctly, I had

Yes, the DC uses only "nameserver 127.0.0.1". As root, that command works.

You mean something like this:
getent group Domain\ Users
domain
users:x:10000:testuser,user27,saducuser,testuser2,sudouser,user26,swanadmin,ktestuser,testuser1,example$,kte.....
If it didn't work for you, then your smb.conf was mis-configured.

Does the DC use itself as its first nameserver in /etc/resolv.conf ?
if it does, it should work without authentication:
root at dc4:~# samba-tool user list -H ldap://localhost
testuser
groupuser2
User27

"00002020: Operation unavailable without authentication" using python-ldap
Interesting, I'm getting the same error using the LDB tools:
ONTHEFIVE\jreinhart-admin at samba-dc3:~$ samba-tool user list -H

Dovecot rc23 and rc24 freeze after authentication
I had our production systems running on rc23, however we ran into
problems when the server was under heavy load. Eventually, the
server would begin to freeze all imap connection after authentication
(according to the logs). A user would connect, authentication would
succeed, and then the connection would sit until timing out. No
error logs were produced. Upgrading to rc24 did not
