Regarding how ESXi handles devices, I don't have a USB adapter in any of
the other VMs, but maybe something is going on in the ESXi controller
itself. I checked in /dev on the host and this is all there is. Maybe
usbpassthrough is something I should look at? I'll do some reading.

usbpassthrough of xen-4.1.2
Hi, everyone!
I am working on the USB passthrough of Xen-4.1.2. My host OS is Fedora 14
and the guest OS is win7.
According to the wiki page(http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/Xen_USB_Passthrough),
xen supports passthrough of usb device from dom0 to guests. I have tried
the Xen HVM guest qemu-dm usb1.1 emulation,
by specifying "usb = 1" and "usbdevice = host:xxxx:yyyy". But, the

OK. That usually means that the VM kernel doesn't see that the device is

You may have found this already, but this (plus the followup KB item #1021345) seems to imply that you can bind the USB-to-serial adapter to the NUT VM:
