RV: Reporting a conflict between ADMB and Rtools on Windows systems
...remove the reference to the compiler c:\Rtools\MinGW\bin then ADMB works again. So beware of this conflict. Suggestion of a solution will be appreciated. Meanwhile, I run ADMB code in one computer and build R packages with Rtools in another computer. Best Ruben -- Dr. Ruben H. R and UBUNTU startup
I did the same transition, facing the same issues, so I settled for installation of RKWard. This pretty much reproduces my previous experience with Tinn-R and the Rgui.

ed50
I am using semiparametric Model  library(mgcv) sm1=gam(y~x1+s(x2),family=binomial, f) How should I  find out standard error for ed50 for the above model ED50 =( -sm1$coef[1]-f(x2)) / sm1$coef [2]   f(x2) is estimated value for non parametric term.   Thanks [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Using lme() for split plot
Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to use lme() for analyzing a split-plot experiment. I've been looking at the examples from the 'R Book', those are nested but with only one factor at the whole-plot level, my test is 2^2 at the whole-plot level, with a single many level factor at the sub-plot level. My question is about properly specifying the random effects part of the model,

Tinn-R RGui Send problem

Podrías mandar un summary de tu conjunto de datos o un str para ver por que no puede estimar esos efectos, también sería útil el resultado de with(tusdatos, table(Landscape,Crop,Position)) Gabriela

PBSmapping, where is Ireland?!
Hi folks, I've been using 'PBSmapping' to make a map of Europe with some labels. I've been using the 'worldLL' PolyData, as my computer is too slow to make my own from the GSHHS files. The only problem is this PolyData does not seem to include Ireland. I have no idea why this should be so, other European islands such as Sardinia etc. are included.

How to find the likelihood of a null model in R
Dear All, I am working on a dataset having the dependent variable as ordinal data(discrete data) and multiple independent variables. I need to find the likelihood for the NULL model.i.e the model with only the dependent variable and all other independent variables as zero. Kindly let me know how to find the likelihood for a NULL model in R. Is there any specific function in R that can do

geoRglm with factor variable as covariable
Dear R users. I'm trying to fit a generalised linear spatial mode using the geoRglm package. To do so, I'm preparing my data (geodata) as follow: geoData9093 = as.geodata(data9093, coords.col= 17:18, data.col=15,* covar.col=16*) where covar.col is a factor variable (years in this case 90-91-92-93)). Then I run the model as follow: / model.5 = list(cov.pars=c(1,1),

AIC() vs. mle.aic() vs. step()?
I know this a newbie question, but I've only just started using AIC for model comparison and after a bunch of different keyword searches I've failed to find a page laying out what the differences are between the AIC scores assigned by AIC() and mle.aic() using default settings. I started by using mle.aic() to find the best submodels, but then I wanted to also be able to make comparisons

How to make a table of a desired dimension
Hi ComRades, I want to make a matrix of frequencies from vectors of a continuous variable spanning different values. For example this code x<-c(runif(100,10,40),runif(100,43,55)) y<-c(runif(100,7,35),runif(100,37,50)) z<-c(runif(100,10,42),runif(100,45,52)) a<-table(ceiling(x)) b<-table(ceiling(y)) c<-table(ceiling(z)) a b c will give me three tables that start and end at
