Keeping icecast from kicking clients
...ecast authors, it is possible to do this. However, I
have yet to make it or see it work. Clients are immediately kicked by
Icecast (1.3.10) and get a 404 not found. I saw this same response in
1.3.7.
Anyway, here are the iterations of icecast.conf files that I've

CentOS-2 Final finally released
At long last I have uploaded CentOS-2 Final to the centos mirrors :)
Some information on CentOS-2 is available here
http://uranus.it.swin.edu.au/~jn/linux/centos-2/index.htm
as well as the caos web site.
Surely no one will find any bugs or problems, but if you do, email is
better for me ATM than IRC.

smbmount
Is there a method or way that will allow one to automagically mount
samba shares requiring a password w/o using a plain text password?
Even if I have to store the plaintext password in a file, is there at
least a way to keep plain text passwords going over the network
(IPSec perhaps)?

Re: RedHat/CentOS family tree
John,
Your RedHat/CentOS family tree looks great!
Even people who are not trying to migrate might want
to take a look.
For those who have not seen it yet, it is at the
bottom of John's migration page,
http://uranus.it.swin.edu.au/~jn/linux/centos-2/migration.htm
For a general understanding how the different versions
relate to each other, that picture is worth 1,000
words, easy.
Thanks,
Rick

Win32 Syslinux
I've been playing with the Win32 SYSLINUX, and it fails if you're not
using NT or 2K or XP. There are some differences when using it under
Win95/98/ME, but is there any reason that this program couldn't just
have a different codepath for those older version of Windows?

John Newbin has been working on a migration center.
It may have some useful information; get it here:

Check out the CentOS/RedHat family tree at the bottom
of the migration center.

Booting disk images with syslinux?
Is it possable to boot a diskimage with syslinux?
So often I run into bios upgrade disks images or can
easily create a disk image and would like an easy way
to just boot these images.
I know isolinux does this and I vagely remember using
it to make a bootable windows 95 cd back in the day.
It worked to.
It would be nice if I could just copy the disk image
to a usbstick and use syslinux to boot

Converting from RHEL to CentOS questions.
I have servers that are running:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 3 (Taroon Update 5)
and
Red Hat Linux Advanced Server release 2.1AS (Pensacola) [which I think RH
renamed as Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 2.1].
The servers are running fine. Is it possible (and if so, how) to convert
these to the equivalent releases of CentOS, without doing a complete upgrade

good start, and a good looking web page.

I was thinking of a table listing the starting points

SYSLINUX 2.10-pre6 is now release candidate
I have decided to make SYSLINUX 2.10-pre6 a release candidate. Please
test it out if you can; if it works OK I will release it as 2.10 some
time in the middle of the week.
Thanks!

2.0.2 servers with 1.9.18p10 DMB?
...ll running
1.9.18p10. We have had sporatic trouble with the upgraded servers
rejecting correct passwords because the DMB seemingly would not properly
validate them. Today, we ran into a more serious problem where Win95 samba
drives were being disconnected when accessed because "password server
URANUS rejected the password". I'm wondering if there were changes made to
the password validation code which would bring about this behavior.
Any and all info would be greatly appreciated. I want to upgrade our
remaining servers including the DMB to 2.0.2, but I'm worried about this
problem...

Before I assume this is the problem, I would rather have it confirmed by the
samba team, or someone intimately knowledgable of samba.
Without quoting back my entire original message (which has otherwise
generated no responses to this point -- that I know of ... I...
