Apologies for those who have seen it there also but I thought that this

new bquote feature splice does not address a common LISP @ use case?
Dear R-devel,
There is a new feature in R-devel, which explicitly refers to LISP @
operator for splicing.
> The backquote function bquote() has a new argument splice to enable splicing a computed list of values into an expression, like ,@ in LISP's backquote.
Although the most upvoted SO question asking for exactly LISP's @
functionality in R doesn't seems to be addressed by this new feature.
Is it possible to use new splice feature to create `6 - 5 + 4`
expression rather than `6 - (5 + 4)`?
b = quote(5+4)
b
#5 + 4
c = bquote(6-.(b))
c
#6 - (5 + 4)
d = bquote(6-..(b)...

Kernel unresponsive after booting 700+ vm's on a single host
...VM-count achieved was 1000, but with substantial slowness, and eventually kernel failure, while the cpu/memory loads were nowhere near limits. Where is the likely bottleneck? Any solutions, workarounds, hacks or dirty tricks?
A few more details here (tumbleweed question), and the possibility of an upvote:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/12243129/kvm-qemu-maximum-vm-count-limit
Any tips would be much appreciated!

package to fit mixtures of student-t distributions
I don?t see how neither a) or b) applies to this question nor the technical merit of the remark about mixture models.
Do you have a suggestion for a more appropriate forum for this issue/question? (stackoverflow basically sent me here).
Kind regards
