Upgrade from 0.99 to 1.0
Hi,
I have just noticed that one our box is still running ancient 0.99 version
(shame on me). Is there anything what I have to take care about during
update? I am completely aware about changes in configuration files so my
question is mainly about existing maildirs.

customflags and keywords
OK. After checking the 0.99->1.0 migration documentation, it seems I've been a
little confused between customflags and keywords. (Though this is partly due to
my repeated requests for clarification being ignored.)
The page (http://wiki.dovecot.org/moin.cgi/UpgradingDovecot) says 1.0 does not
use .customflags any more. Now, I'm hoping they're still supported, in which
case I'm curious to know where those details ARE stored?
If 1.0 does support custom flags in a usable way, I'll migrate next week (with
Andrey's gzip patch applied :)

MasterUser and old rev of Dovecot (0.99.14)
I need to migrate an old mail server running Dovecot (0.99.14) to a
new server running Dovecot (1.0.7; as shipped with CentOS 5.2).
My plan was to use the imapsync utility as this will "seamlessly" do
the conversion from mbox to maildir between the boxes as well.
I've got the MasterUser authentication working fine on the new host
and was just about to start getting

dovecot 0.99.xx to 1.0-stable how-to?
I realize that there have been some big changes in features and
configuration file settings between 0.99.xx and 1.0-stable, so when I
went to perform an upgrade on our testing server, I carefully combed
through the configuration files and matched up everything I could.
I fired up dovecot-1.0-stable and was pleased to see that it was happily
running. I attempted to connect to it, and

imap - mailbox in an inconsistant state
Can anyone help me with this issue?
The CEO of our company keeps getting IMAP time out errors and "mailbox is in

There are errors on the server side. This is what it says:

dovecot upgrade
Hi, I'm currently using Dovecot version 1.0 and I want to update it to the
latest version. I know from version .99 to version 1.0 I had to change a few
things on the dovecot config.
When compiling the latest stable version should I just be able to use the
same config I'm using for version 1.0 without making any changes ?
Thank you Paul

upgrading RHEL4 to RHEL5 - dovecot 0.99 to 1.0rc15
Hi,
now that a lot off software is updated e.g. RedHat EL and dovecot got
finaly final :-) we plan to upgrade our mailserver from RHEL4 dovecot
0.99 to RHEL5 with dovecot 1.0rc15 - the rpms provided by Red Hat.
I've read the upgrading Dovecot manual from here
http://wiki.dovecot.org/UpgradingDovecot, but yust to get things right
I'd like to ask some questions:
Simply spoken, we use the basic default dovecot-config, mbox format and
imaps/pop3s.
So will there be any big trouble to just use the most default settings
of the 1.0 config file? Or which options are compleatly different?

upgrading: should I and what will change?
I've been running dovecot 0.99.11 with postfix and postgresql in a
production environment with about 25 real users and a couple hundred
aliases split over a few domains for nearly a year now. No problems of
any kind that I have noticed. Should I upgrade to the latest dovecot?
What changes, if any, will I have to make? I've looked through the
archives for a couple months without seeing

Upgrading from 0.99 to 1.0alpha
Since FreeBSD has decided to drop Dovecot 0.99 and only provide a port for
1.0alpha4, what are the considerations for upgrading from 0.99.14 to
1.0a4?
Thanks,
Jim

How can I get the new Dovecot acting as the old one?
I don't use pam (which seems to be default now),
simply shadow passwords (Slackware).
http://wiki.dovecot.org/UpgradingDovecot did not help me.

POP State
I upgraded Dovecot and it was smooth except some of my
users using POP3 and leaving their mail on the server,
are getting all their mail again.
Is there a way to prevent this from happening in the
future?
/var/run/dovecot was kept during the upgrade ...
Thanks,

Upgrade from 0.99.x to 1.1.x
Hi!
I want to upgrade a Dovecot installation from 0.99.14 to 1.1.15,
so I had a look at the following wiki article:
http://wiki.dovecot.org/Upgrading?action=show&redirect=UpgradingDovecot
The article http://wiki.dovecot.org/Upgrading/1.0 says something
about .customflags -> dovecot-keywords and
.subscriptions -> subscriptions change/conversion:

Double Emails
Hi all,
I originally posted this on postfix's mailing list but then realized
that this COULD be a pop3 server problem since that downloads and
deletes mail. This has only been happening since I upgraded from .99 to
1.0-7 ...
Our users have been reporting double messages in their inbox, as well as
emails that they deleted a long time ago reappearing. The only thing in
