modeling binary response variables
...t) and am looking for two things: (1) is glm with family = 'binomial' the right way to do this, and (2) are there any good references on how it works. I have posted a plot of a sample of the data I am looking at as well as the sample data used to generate the plots. Sample Plot: http://www.uoregon.edu/~kemerson/tmp/plot.pdf Sample Data: http://www.uoregon.edu/~kemerson/tmp/data.csv Response variable is percent.dev (se2.dev are the errors from binomial estimates given probability and number of samples). Descriptor variables are num.days, ppd, temp, and pop. Any help would be greatly appr...

Color schemes that work for people with color-deficient vision
A recent article in the earth science literature cited below and available at http://geography.uoregon.edu/datagraphics/EOS/ points out that rainbow color schemes and mixtures of green and yellow can be troublesome for people with color-deficient vision. The authors propose alternative schemes that can be viewed and downloaded in RGB, HSV, CMYK, and RGB256 formats from http://geography.uoregon.e...

Samba Shares and Win32 Viruses
...viruses. Though it does not affect the server in any way, I do find them to be an annoyance. I understand also that I can perform "veto" of files like *.exe in smb.conf but find that to be a wee bit restrictive. There are some users who stores valid executables in the shares. http://hr.uoregon.edu/davidrl/samba-unofficial.html "To prevent access to suspicious files (e.g., those that tend to become infected by virus'), use the following. The last bit prevents access to files with a CLSID in the file extension. veto files = /*.exe/*.dll/*.pif/*.com/*.vbs/*.{*}/" Cheers...

Samba Domain Emu
Hi I have read that Samba can emulate an NT Domain. Is this still possible? I dont see much about it listed anymore. Is it still supported in 2.2.8a. Does anyone have any information concerning this? We would like our version to do this so we can do some testing with one of our NetApp 880's. -- Thank you TJ _________________________________ Steven ?Todd? Johnson State of Alaska Dept.
