So, probably some of you, at least, follow Fedora, perhaps in part to see what new desktop user oriented decision will make it into the next version of RHEL/CentOS. You may have noticed how if Fedora, by some odd scheme, deems your password unworthy, you have to click Done two times. So, the latest Ananconda takes this one step further. Passwords that the system considers weak will no longer

Correlation of coefficients?
Hi R users! One thing I cannot understand with R is the frequently appearing " Correlation of coefficients". I do not find a through going explanation of this concept either on the help pages of R or on the internet. A Google search has shown many examples of R/S-Plus outputs but no explanations of meaning. I am afraid this turns out to be a silly and unworthy question. Would anyone be

Looking for an unequal variances equivalent of the Kruskal Wallis nonparametric one way ANOVA
Well fellow R users, I throw myself on your mercy. Help me, the unworthy, satisfy my employer, the ungrateful. My feeble ramblings follow... I've searched R-Help, the R Website and done a GOOGLE without success for a one way ANOVA procedure to analyse data that are both non-normal in nature and which exhibit unequal variances and unequal sample sizes across the 4 treatment levels. kgio library / RubyGem
Hello all, I''ve released kgio, a kinder, gentler I/O library for Ruby. Some of its features are useful for Unicorn, and all of it is useful for Rainbows! I intend to make kgio a requirement for both Unicorn and Rainbows!/Zbatery. I''m comfortable with the code, but extra testers and extra eyes to review it would be helpful (it''s nearly all C). There were several

Outlook 2003 Client
Hi all, my dovecot IMAP Server (1.0.7-7.el5) is now up and running ;-) Now I want that all clients have to save there sent messages in the IMAP folder on the server. no problem with the thunderbird clients. BUT, I can't configure the office 2003 clients to save there send messages to the imap folder. Some people told me, that outlook 2003 isn't able to do that. The send messages

Exception while using NeweyWest function with doMC
Dear R users, I am using R right now for a simulation of a model that needs a lot of memory. Therefore I use the *bigmemory* package and - to make it faster - the *doMC* package. See my code posted on http://pastebin.com/dFRGdNrG Now, if I use the foreach loop with the addon %do% (for sequential run) I have no problems at all - only here and there some singularities in regressor matrices which

A request from the CentOS Project
The CentOS Project seems to be having a problem within some of our community interactive areas that we need to address. As most of you know, the project provides CentOS software free of charge and we also provide community areas like a Wiki, Mailing Lists, IRC Channels and Fora for our users to interact with one another and allow the CentOS community to provide support for each other. There are

MIT vs GPL vs LGPL for open source project
I intend to release a project I wrote with Rails. What is the right licensing scheme for a web application (content managing system) which could grow with plugins and add-ons ? Personally, I would prefer the GPL but does that mean any add-on to the CMS (like task management) will have to be GPL ? If some people contribute to the code could it still be double-licenced so that the people who
