MD5/Checksums for debug files?
Being new at distro SOPs, I don't know if this is an unusual thought.
With a kernel debug package (or any such debug package) would it be
prudent in todays world to have a checksum or signature process to
assure the downloaded file is untampered with and complete?
What prompts this is I just downloaded the kernel packages that Johnny
put up. I had not realized they were so large and thought "TG I'm not on
dial-up anymore".
Anyway, thought I would raise the question.
TIA

CentOS 7.5 Linux box got infected with Watchbog malware
Hi,
Is there a way to find out how the CentOS 7.5 Linux box got infected with
malware?
Currently i am referring to
http://sudhakarbellamkonda.blogspot.com/2018/11/blocking-watchbog-malwareransomware.html
to carry out the below steps and is done manually.
1)rm -fr /tmp/*timesyncc.service*
2)crontab -e -u apigee
delete the cron entry

AIX reading /etc/environment out of step.
I was discussing with Don about a private topic..and while skimming the
code I noticed that during a 'ssh mouring at site ls' the /etc/environment
is *ONLY* read if the remote machine is an AIX box. This is undocumented
and I'm wondering if someone using AIX could explain WHY it exists in the
session.c:do_child()? No other OS has this. I don't see why AIX should
require it.
