Trying to multiboot bartpe & puppy linux on a usb flash with syslinux

I include the bootsector, pe2usb.bin, renamed as pe2usb.bss, planning later to chain boot with syslinux. This works as-is and boots into bartpe. Next I mount the puppy iso and copy over the isolinux setup. Then...

I didn''t see any clues in the errata for the book. Any ideas on wha...

Plotting math functions
Hi all, I was wondering whether it is possible to plot math functions, for example sin, cos or a Gaussian type function, in R, and if so, how to do it. I have been searching through the archives and the R manual but had no luck in finding any hints on how to go about this. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks, Jonck

Samba Printer - Access Denied, unable to connect
Hi, I have a Samba server with a local printer attached to the Linux system. In the past, I could print documents fine from my Windows PC. Now, I cannot figure out why I cannot access my system. It has been like that for a while and I put it on the back burner. Initially, I thought it was the printer port screws were loose and were responsible for not printing. I have them tightened and

KEEPPXE/DOS
First off I love syslinux and it has worked flawless for us on the unix side of the realm. We're trying to use our ghost images within a dos netboot using syslinux. Unfortunatly we can only pass DHCP ip's to hosts that exhibit a vendor code 'like windows/pxe/and other os's do". Unfortunatly DOS does not, so we cannot request a second IP after the pxe process to map samba

new to xen - got questions, please
I just installed Centos 5.5 with the xen kernel on an older machine. It has Xeon processors and a 700 Mhz processor speed, so I realize I must use para-virtualized guests. Reading the Centos/RH Virtualization Guide gives examples of the process of installing guest hosts, but it only lists installing Windows as a fully-virtualized host. Is that because they only showed those types of examples

getent passwd not showing domain users at boot
I added `service winbind status` to the beginning of my rc.local script and, after booting, saw the message: "winbind stop/waiting". So you're right, winbind is not running. Hmmm, I thought rc.local was the last thing to run at boot time. winbindd is run as a daemon, so I suppose rc.local could run before winbind has a chance to get all its ducks in a row. I'll try looping in

Local mirroring of the CentOS repos
I figured I try if I can mirror the base and updates repos locally. There's no tutorial for that, only one about creating your own repo of packages which is not the same. So, I just mirrored all the stuff with wget and changed the baseurl in the repo files and hoped that's enough. Works. So easy you don't need a tutorial. *But* I then realized that the updates directory contains
