German Umlaut issue on uNSLUnged Linksys with Samba3
[sorry for my maybe newbie Qs and using this group for my busybox issue but though having visited some forums about this I'm getting nuts] I unslugged a Linksys NSLU2 device with V2.3R63-uNSLUng-6.8-beta as I plan to use it as a DC replacement for my W2k server at home. But I already got stuck before this. Following the unslinging I installed the Samba3 IPKGs for the NSLU guided by the hints on http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/Unslung/Samba. I modified the original smb.conf [1] to [2], bu...

Windows XP Files Disapearing
...it's are being copied to the drive. It seems like Samba is hiding the file once it's copied to the drive for some reason. I've set the attribute browseable = yes, but that doesn't seem to solve the problem. This is my first foray into Linux and Samba. I am running Samba 3.2.0 and Unslung 6.10 on an NSLU2 device. I have a 500GB USB NTFS-formatted drive attached via a hub to the NSLU2 device. It seems like I may have a permissions problem. Here is my smb.conf file. Any suggestions would be much appreciated! =========================================================================...

Grandstream GXP 2010 : multiple accounts not working
On my Grandstream GXP 2010 I have the possibility for 6 channels and thus 6 different accounts... Line 1 I define an account that registers directly to an online Asterisk-server, somewhere in a datacentre. Line 2 I define an account that registers to the local Asterisk-server (NSLU2 unslung) When I activate both accounts, only the first account (to the Asterisk-server on the internet) registers. When I only activate the first account, then the first account registers well to the public Asterisk-server on the internet. When I only activate the second, then the second account registers...

samba 3.0.22 and OS/2 connectivity
...ave a Linksys NSLU2 device which is used to hook USB2 drives upto my network as network attached storage. The Linksys firmware upgrade for this device includes samba 3.0.11 which is a non-starter regarding OS/2 connectivity. There is an alternative firmware based on the Linksys firmware called Unslung from http://www.nslu2-linux.org/ The Unslung firmware allows "unslinging" the operating system from firmware to disk and allows upgrade and additional packages. Having followed the instructions carefully I managed to "Unsling" the NSLU2 and apply the samba 3.0.22 upgrade ava...

file.access() on network (mounted) drive on Windows Vista?
Hi, I have a writable and readable file on a small network file system (Cisco NSLU2 Unslung; non-NTFS) that I access via a mounted drive on Windows Vista. My problem could be due to a "funny" file system/server, but here it goes: > pathname <- "Q:/foo.txt" > cat(file=pathname, "Hello world!\n") > readLines(pathname) [1] "Hello world!"...

rsync-ssh problem
...am having a real nightmare getting automated login with ssh to work; hoping someone can guide me. I am running Ubuntu 6.10. I have a main machine (called greywolf) which has a partition for my /home on it. I am doing backups to an extrnal usb drive attached to a Linksys NSLU2 (called slug) running UnSlung firmware. All hosts, networking, shares, firewall & such stuff is working fine. Currently I use this command on greywolf to push-backup some key files to the external drive: rsync -avz --delete --numeric-ids /home/paul/somefiles -e ssh paul@slug:/backup/edgy I get asked for paul?s password on...
