2.1.rc1 (056934abd2ef): virtual plugin mailbox search pattern
Hello Timo, With dovecot 2.1.rc1 (056934abd2ef) there seems to be something wrong with virtual plugin mailbox search patterns. I'm using a virtual mailbox 'unread' with the following dovecot-virtual file $ cat dovecot-virtual * unseen For testing propose I created the following folders with each containing one unread message INBOX, INBOX/level1 and INBOX/level1/level2 2.1.rc1 (056934abd2ef) 1 LIST "" "*" * LIST (\HasChildren) "/" "INBOX" * LIST (\HasChildren) "/" "INBOX...

dovecot-virtual folder configuration
Hi all, Long story short, I'd like to configure a folder containing: INBOX (some other folders) -> unseen emails from these folders + all other emails (also seen) from the same thread -> seen emails from these folders, but only the recent ones + all other emails from the same thread I tried: # inthread refs (or (or recent unseen) recent ) inthread refs unseen # inthread refs (or unseen (...

Strange output from LIST command
Hi, i'm using Dovecot 2.1.7 (Debian Wheezy) and output from LIST command looks strange: C: 4 LIST () "" (INBOX INBOX.Karantena INBOX.Spam) RETURN (STATUS (UNSEEN)) S: * LIST () "." LIST-STATUS issue
Looked at the hg commits since 2.1.1, but didn't see anything that was exactly on-point to this... UNSEEN counts seem to be broken when done in a LIST-STATUS call. I see this, for example: >> Timestamp: Thu, 01 Mar 2012 10:55:47 -0700 [...] C: 3 LIST "" (INBOX IN.dovecot) RETURN (STATUS (UNSEEN)) S: * LIST () "." "IN.dovecot" S: * STATUS "IN.dovecot" (U...

NOTIFY regression: 2.18 no longer notifies of events in INBOX
...Y SPECIAL-USE] Logged in as guilhem C2: a2 APPEND INBOX {1+} C2: x S2: a2 OK [APPENDUID 1384472528 26085] Append completed (0.229 secs). With 2.13 from Debian Jessie, S1 sends a notification for the new message in INBOX, as expected: S1: * STATUS INBOX (MESSAGES 4333 UIDNEXT 26086 UNSEEN 1) However it doesn't with 2.18 from Debian Sid, as if ?INBOX? was excluded from the mailbox filter ?INBOXES?. It does send a notification for ?virtual/unseen? instead (as expected), but nothing for ?INBOX?. S1: * STATUS virtual/unseen (MESSAGES 3 UIDNEXT 15186 UNSEEN 3) This is INBOX-s...

automatic flag updates
Is there a way to get dovecot to send automatic flag updates? I notice that when I have two clients connected and one of them reads a new message, the server sends a status update which contains the number of unseen messages, but doesn't specifically say which ones have changed. I think the solution to this problem, while not wasting bandwidth, is to issue a unilateral FETCH FLAGS response whenever a flag changes. There doesn't seem to be a way to get dovecot (I'm using 0.99.10) to do this. Can the...

RECENT status always 0
Hello, we are using dovecot 2.0.13 with maildir++ (we migrated away from courrier just a few months ago) and the RECENT status doesn't seem to be working: . STATUS INBOX (MESSAGES UNSEEN RECENT) * STATUS "INBOX" (MESSAGES 35106 RECENT 0 UNSEEN 10) then 2 minutes later: . STATUS INBOX (MESSAGES UNSEEN RECENT) * STATUS "INBOX" (MESSAGES 35106 RECENT 0 UNSEEN 11) How can the UNSEEN count change without the RECENT count changing accordingly? Thanks in advance,...

When is a new mail not unseen?
...scenario: * mailbox_list_index=yes * I send a test mail * delivery is made by Postfix straight to mbox * after delivery is made, I run "doveadm -v index -q -u local-it-support INBOX" If I then run "doveadm mailbox status -u local-it-support all INBOX", what would expect "unseen" to be? 0 or 1? Personally, I would expect it to be 1, but it isn't. It is 0. I'm working on switching over to getting Postfix to deliver via lmtp but the above seems to me to be a good manual workflow to emulate what should be happening and it concerns me that Dovecot still says the...

Unseen messages question
Hi list, this question is related to the IMAP protocol itself, not really to Dovecot. I'm trying to understand what is the more efficient way to maintain the number of unseen messages of the currently selected mailbox. RFC3501 says a client must not issue a STATUS command to the selected mailbox and that information sent by a SELECT is enough. My current idea follows these steps : * Issue a STATUS before the mailbox is selected => I know how many unseen messages it...

strange behaviour with seen/unseen messages in virtual folders.
Hi, I've a virtual folder that contains unseen messages. When I mark the message and expunge the folder, the message should disappear. This works as expected in alpine. Alpine uses the following commands: 06000010 STORE 1 +Flags (\SEEN) 06000020 EXPUNGE Using roundcube mail, the message wont disappear, when I perform the same steps. RoundC...

UNSEEN flag issues with multiple clients
Hi all, I've been bugged by this issue for a while, and while I see that the \UNSEEN flag is specified in the RFC to be reset once *any* client connects and looks at a mailbox, I was wondering if there's a way to change the behavior so that it's tracked on a per-client basis? Or if there's even some way to turn it off so that both my iPhone mail client and my main emac...
