Wiki unscheduled outage yesterday
Hi, Some of you probably noticed the fact that we had an issue with the wiki. Nothing was updated on that node (from a pkg PoV) but we already had strange issue when a page was edited with some content that would lead to a traceback. We so restored the last backup (from June 6th) and it was back to normal. If you edited one or more pages on the wiki yesterday, you should have a look and try to

ext3 usage guidance
...to establish ownership of the various files takes some hours. Are there thresholds for #files-per-directory or #total-files-per-filesystem beyond which performance degrades rapidly? 2. I have a number of filesystems on SCSI disks which I would like to fsck on demand, rather than have an unscheduled fsck at reboot because some mount-count has expired. I use 'tune2fs -c 0 and -t 0' to do this, and would like to use 'shutdown -F -r 'at a chosen time to force fsck on reboot, and I'd then like fsck to do things in parallel. What are the resources (memory etc) r...

app_dial.c: Unable to create channel of type 'Zap' (cause 34 - Circuit/channel congestion)
Just to share some experience with everyone about what happened today to our Asterisk 1.4 box with Digium TE412P card. We had an unscheduled power outage which shut down the Asterisk box. When the power went up, Asterisk came back up okay but the ports on the card were all red. Zttool show red alarm and cat /proc/zaptel/1 show red alarm today. Both incoming and outgoing cannot be made. When a outgoing call was made, we got the follo...

POD: soft lockups in dom0 kernel
Hi, when creating a bigger (> 50 GB) HVM guest with maxmem > memory we get softlockups from time to time. kernel: [ 802.084335] BUG: soft lockup - CPU#1 stuck for 22s! [xend:31351] I tracked this down to the call of xc_domain_set_pod_target() and further p2m_pod_set_mem_target(). Unfortunately I can this check only with xen-4.2.2 as I don''t have a machine with enough memory for

System Reliability Metrics
...ween Failure (MTBF), etc (see http://www.cs.sandia.gov/~jrstear/ras for a more complete list). I have observations like start end state 1 2005-11-11 09:05:00 2005-11-11 12:20:00 Scheduled Downtime 2 2005-11-12 13:42:00 2005-11-12 14:45:00 Unscheduled Downtime where each row describes the system state between start and end times. Time between observations indicates a Production state. The metrics of interest involve simple ratios of total time spent in various states, number of transitions, etc. I'd like to plot period MTBF val...

Upgrading 1.2 to 2.x
Hi In an unscheduled maintenance window next week, I will have the opportunity to upgrade to 2.x should I wish to do and provided I can get it working on stage first. My questions: I've seen a lot on the list about the rock-solidness of 1.2 but also some people saying that some versions of 2.x better than other...

[LLVMdev] Dependency graphs supported by the pass manager
Hi all: I apologize if this is a stupid question, but I haven't found a direct statement of what kinds of requirements the Pass Manager imposes on pass dependency graphs. I found a number of bug reports related to unschedulable passes (e.g. "Unable to schedule pass" asserts from the pass manager), but it isn't always clear if these are true bugs in the scheduling algorithm or expected behavior. Specifically, can anyone tell me what the intended behavior of the Pass Manager is in the following scenari...

mischeduler
Hi, Regarding the mischeduler, I wonder // For loops that are acyclic path limited, aggressively schedule for // latency. This can result in very long dependence chains scheduled in // sequence, so once every cycle (when CurrMOps == 0), switch to normal // heuristics. if (Rem.IsAcyclicLatencyLimited && !Zone->getCurrMOps() && tryLatency(TryCand, Cand, *Zone))

Except from the change log: - Added support to schedule using at(1), see README.zfs-auto-snapshot.txt - take_snapshot will only run if option "manual" given or FMRI is online - added command line action "unschedule" - retry all jobs (at and cron) using a short term reschedule (AT_RETRY="now + 5 minutes") if they cant be run due to a temporary condition such as - smf service offline or uninitialized - pool being scrubbed - added command line action "list" to list c...
