strange matching: maybe a multilanguage collation problem?
Hi, We''re using Ferret in a slightly unorthodox way: We''re indexing a large (>100,000) list of names of places all around the world. Mostly we''re quite happy with it, and have been able to graft on our own particular required functionality with just a little tweaking. There''s one strange problem, though: We...

abstract_class... what exactly does it do
...ow much about abstract_class? Does it actually prevent instances of the class from being created? Does it disable certain methods? I already know what it''s for, but I want to know what setting self.abstract_class=true actually does. The reason I ask is that I want to use it for a slightly unorthodox purpose. I want a class who''s only attributes are its associated objects... and as there are no belongs_to associations, it doesn''t need a table. If abstract_class can''t do this for me, I''ll have to redefine some methods to prevent AR from looking for a table. (B...

configure, config.site and TCLTK_CPPFLAGS
Hi, I am trying to configure R-1.8.0-patched (fresh rsync) for machines with the tcltk files in unorthodox locations. I specified a TCLTK_CPPFLAGS='/usr/freeware/include/' in the file config.site but it seems that a '# no special path needed' is added when running configure, causing trouble (See the excerpt from config.site below). This was working with R-1.7.1. I am not an autoconf/conf...

[LLVMdev] question about SjLjEHPrepare
...t properly caught. My question is whether SjLjEHPrepare.cpp is a stand alone pass that I can hope to port alone into llvm 3.0, or whether there are other parts of the source code that would have to be back ported along with it to have exception handling working properly. I know this is a somewhat unorthodox approach, so thanks for bearing with me in this matter. -David

[LLVMdev] Go Programming & LLVM/Clang
...Go. Is this nuts? Or should I learn it orthodox style and hack it later? I want to build a clock of my own invention, as my first project. Its the way I am going to do "time" itself will kinda throw me away from "normal" anyway; so I am kinda hoping a thumbs up for starting off unorthodox is the reply. upsmon/upssched shutdown problem
Hi, we're trying to do something that's perhaps unorthodox, but seemingly should work; but not for me. We've got a Powerware 9315, that we are serially attaching one machine to. We have several classes of systems that we want to have shut down at different times. I've been doing my config testing by attaching the master machine to a Powerware...

OOP with Encapsulated Class Definitions
...mclass () } A snippet of creating and using an object: > myobject = MyObject (10) > myobject$x [1] 10 > myobject~double () > myobject$x [1] 20 Here class definitions are functions, however there are other possibilities... Priority has been given to space rather than speed, hence the unorthodox method despatch, however again, there are other possibilities... Here is an example of inheritance: > MySuperClass = function (...) { MySuperClass = function (x) .$x = x mymethod = function () cat (.$x, "\n") mclass () } > MySubClass = function (...) { MySubClass = fu...

algorithm to merge same entries in a matrix
Hi, I have the following, rather unorthodox problem: I have a matrix that looks like this: m1 <- matrix(c('a','b','d',NA,'c','c'), 2,3, byrow=TRUE) [,1] [,2] [,3] [1,] "a" "b" "d" [2,] NA "c" "c" now I would like to transform t...

feature request -- talk to the router, not the UPS
...ly set the timer in the FreeNAS GUI to wait a few minutes to see if the UPS comes back up before it does a system shut down, so I can be okay without the low battery signal. I respectfully disagree that the scripting functionality I'm proposing isn't appropriate for NUT. Even though it is unorthodox, and technically easy (for some people, but not for many others) to implement this in other places, this script idea does still provide functionality, and this functionality does seem to be congruent with the mission of NUT. The benefit of having this functionality embedded at the low level of NUT...

ZAPRTC question(s)
I have a system with no Digium hardware in it (two others with 2 X100P cards in each of them as well). I'm interested in using MeetMe in the one without the hardware (it works great in the ones with the hardware). I can't use ztdummy, because the system has usb-ohci drivers, rather than usb-uhci. I have read the little there is about zaprtc, and I am wondering whether there is a

Even though this may be an unorthodox manner to update my websites, I run a pretty tight ship here, so, if I can do what was previously able to do under freeBSD 10.1 and Samba 3.625...it would be preferred. New hardware
Hi! I want to upgrade hardware on my router (iptables, htb, >1000 users). Now it is based on usual desktop PC (Intel Prescott P4 3.00 Ghz, 1 Gb RAM). The reason of hardware upgrade is growing up number of users, also we are planning to increase upstream link from 100 Mbit/s to 1 Gbit/s. Iptables rules are now optimized with ipset tool, for tc I''m using hash tables as well. So I

Hmmm, looks like the "lookup question" from amandine(server) is not resolved in the same way it is resoved from bernadette or raymonde (clients). How about adding a reverse lookup for your lan ip group, pointing to your server? server=/168.192.3.in-addr...

Password expiration: how to trigger it?
Dear Dovecot Team, I'm in the (long) process of migrating my whole email infrastructure. Of course, dovecot is in the place, and is working just fine. Still, I have an issue: password expiration. I'm now using FreeIPA backend for the user authentication, and it includes the capacity to expire passwords. Basically, it's an LDAP with fancy things, among them a field named
